Great looking setup still after a year! Echoing what you said about the ToughSystem, it's one of the better toolboxes you can get. The upgrade over the original Toughsystem side latches are so much better. That quick attach/release is far better than that little plastic latch they used to have. Great video!

The anti wobble inserts are interesting. On your back-to-back castored site work table, if your insert-making-friend made a kitchen worktop style insert, mechanically linking both front and back stack, then they (the linking inserts) would add the entire mass of the ‘back stack’ to any overturning moment on the ‘front stack when the highest drawer is open. Given that the dual stack is on castors, and easily rotated for access, that seems to me to meet the relatively small footprint, with no tippyness, criteria for a taller (back to back) stack, that might work on some sites.

Good choice on the drawer units. Wish I had seen your video before I invested in the small tool boxes, and bin boxes. I ended up with something with all the issues of the systainers. I cut foam for the tools in the bottom of the boxes, and then made plywood trays with lifting straps above them, to put the accessories for the tool in. But the drawers seem to be a better solution.
@bendenham4186 Жыл бұрын
My usual tool totes are organised about once a month but usually everything just gets thrown in at the end of a day which means the following day it's a nightmare! I will be doing exactly what you have and it's a double bonus when you clip on a piece of ply to make a bench! Those little things to stop the wobble are perfect!

Probably been said in the comments already lol but I have bought the Milwaukee packout drawers instead of these and they are night and day better than the dewalt ones not just on build quality but the modifications you can do. Etsy has so many 3d accessories for packout as well. I’m about £1500 in so far but like you’ve done with your tsc55 drawer I’ve done the same but just cut the top drawer bottom out and glued and riveted the cut out back on the sides to make one big drawer. And on my 3 drawer cut the middle drawer to make a deeper drawer. But like you I love the drawers never been so organised. Keep up the good work.

I saw these drawer units when they first came out in the US. I was really disappointed by the wobble. I have the original tough system non drawer toolboxes and they're rock solid when clipped together. Good to know there's a fix. But there shouldn't need to be!

Good follow up video. It is a shame they dont make a full size single deep draw on on its own for items such as circular saws, planers, track saws etc. The draw system is a game changer in stacked systems. Apart from having them on racks to pull out as and when, a deep single draw that holds the circular saw that you can access immediately (like youve adapted) would make it ideal! Leave all the boxes stacked and just access what you need without boxes all over the place. Plus as you've done turn them into an actual work bench for onsite work (adapting for unlevel ground maybe?) Saves lugging around separate pop up saw horses as well. Would become a super little center! I love my tstak boxes but do find the item i need is always in the bottom box! Hence all out to fet at that one and no matter how smart you think you are by putting it back on top next item will be on the bottom that you need! Great video keep it up.

”The job isn’t finished until a tools inventory is taken.” It’s the last task on the work sheet in aircraft manitenance for an aircraft technician. The last thing you want is to give a tool ”flying time” by forgetting it in say, the cockpit for the pilot to discover when it’s smacking into the controls when making an advanced manouvre. Or making it’s way through the engine during takeoff, just because you put it somewhere in the aircraft during a job and then forgot all about it. The price to pay then, isn’t just the price of a new tool. The tools inventory saves both time and money. You don’t have to find out that that tool you really need to finish that job you are currently are going to finish off is missing, just when you need it. And You don’t have to buy a new tool to replace a a lost one. Common sense actually, if you think about it.

I too have finally decided to move out of systainers but not necessarily for the reason of stacking and unstacking . Its more because of how fragile they are. Im tired of replacing handles, lids, etc.. One would think that for such an expensive tool and also an expensive box to buy separately, they would be a bit more durable. I actually find myself trying to be careful with them at this point. I recently had a client decide to be a stand up guy and help me carry my tools and he grabbed one facing backwards from my van caught the rear locking feat on a lip and tore the bottom out of an expensive systainer. That was the last straw !!!

Its a shame for carpenters who work with wood and build amazing homes to buy plastic toolboxes....so I run packout😂. It doesn't matter what brand you like or use,what matters is finding the tool for the job in the moment.....and not buying replacements when you can't find them. Having spilled countless screwboxes over the last 25 yrs,am terrified of screws in drawers and them tipping. The one and only nice thing about the packout dolly,it will carry a combination of L-squares,guide rails,levels,laser tripods,dust poles and 3rd hands by the handle. This could be adapted very easily to any system on a hand truck. I prefer loading fewer drawers/boxes heavier. Then I have smaller boxes a-la-cart style for lesser used tools in the truck. Router,hardware jig/screws,jigsaw,coping jigsaw,16g/23g/18g nailguns, 2 Bosch sanders,planer. My drill and driver box weighs about 45lbs,but has every bit in redundancy. I was considering systainer for the last 2 years before pulling the trigger. But As a individual that has a tendency of (stacking) things and having to grab a tool from the bottom section is a major deal breaker.yes they are nice but I feel that once you make the same repetitive movement for every tool then systainer is out of the question.and no ,making drawers for a tool box is a added waste of motion and time where it can be used somewhere else.the price for the space you get I think I'm going to go forward with the DeWalt.....as long as they don't discontinue making the product, on wich the systainer has a advantage.
