Honestly the scariest part of that was your helmet coming off. There is absolutely no way that should have been able to happen!

Thankfully I'm OK. I had a pretty bruised up chest/belly from hitting the tower and a pulled neck. Mid an extreme desert race battling mental heat (that actually took lives) I mad a dumb error of not fastening my helmet at the 1 neutralisation stage where we get 20 minutes mid way through the 425km off road stage. My mind was so focused on fueling, water, checking bike, trying to eat, attaching water pipe to helmet, not being late etc my mind just totally missed my helmet buckle. I'm only human and totally messed up. Although in this very unusual situation I think it actually helped me. When my chin caught in the sand and pulled the helmet, it was able to come off. My gut says if it hand not been undone it might have ripped my neck even more. Maybe some power out there was looking after me but I will definitely be being far more vigilant with my pre pull away checks in the future!! Such an idiot. I'm only human and doing my best, and I did come 24th overall so I definitely wasn't slow 💪💪💪 some might say I should not have shared this video but if you've followed me for a while you'll know I share all angles, not just the ones that "make me look good". Real honest truth. Life is a big learning journey ❤️

4:40 love the editing here, fast music then SILENCE to a crash! You're really inspiring Vanessa, seeing the short clip I came to this video with the assumption that you'd broken an arm and were going to get evac'd out, but nope. Just up and rode 30km on with a potentially busted gut, got yourself ready for the next day and kept going. Brilliant brilliant stuff.

Good to hear all beep-beep's when you hit the marks, but sad you had to produce a few of your own when being tossed off brutally. Wow, that was nasty. I tried to figure out what the speed was, but could not see. Do you have an idea? Sitting in a chair watching a screen it all looks like a gentle fall in soft sand, but I know from experience that you can get hurt like that. Looking at a monitor is so deceptive. Thumbs up for pushing on Vanessa.
@TheGirlOnABike Жыл бұрын
I would probably guess maybe 60 speed, not hanging about but not full chat as it was pretty undulating and yeah, it's easy to think 'oh soft sand' but I hit a rock or something in the sand which caused a dead stop and my body was taken out by the tower, so it was a big knock. Thanks for the kind encouragement dude
