Superb review Drew! By eliminating the 1.8 liter engine and making the 2 liter engine standard, Toyota has made the base 2023 Corolla (169 hp) faster than the 2023 base Civic (158 hp), 2023 base Elantra (147 hp), 2023 base Forte (147 hp), and 2023 base Sentra (149 hp)! Corolla's leading the pack in the base trim! Corolla also gets the cool CVT with a physical first gear which gives it better off the line acceleration!

Trust me, the corolla 2023 trims in Canada is not worth the price. Me and my family had bought a 2022 se corolla for 31k after tax and this price is after our crazy tax and fdi prices, there is nothing special about it just plain sport car with good fuel consumption, the 2023 hybrid le corlla which we also ordered.. for btw 33K! is so basic and plain boring and not worth the money as you get NOTHING impressive on it compared to honda. ON THE OTHER hand, I ordered a honda sport trim 2023 for around 36K cad after all taxes and everything and it has features which toyota does not have and btw you would have to pay stupid amount of money if you did want these features on a toyota: Sunroof, key start (Very important for cold canadians weathers), better interior, bigger engine, better technology, window roll down with key during hot summers, 18 inch black alloy wheels, chrome tip, bigger car, amazing fuel consumption for a 2.0L engine, holds insane car value other the years and etc. So if you would ask me what I would pick, HONDA ALL THE WAY.
@alvinsimba734 Жыл бұрын
@@yas_iin9357 where have you been man? As a Canadian it depends what one want, Hondas have been generally expensive for what they offer and also the Canadians do have more features standard compared to Americans. I have 2020 corolla LE, the Canadian version and quite honestly it has been ok for what it does and in my case upgrading to 2023 doesn't make sense for me in any way but for new shop owners it's worth it as long as you get the features that you know you will use. My 2020 comes with switchblade key, and I do have aftermarket remote starter for those Canadian winters and for the 2 years I have owned I have never scrapped the windshield or the body ever
@yas_iin9357 Жыл бұрын
@@alvinsimba734 You are forgetting a key factor right now, there is also increase in car prices in all the new cars. The 2023 Corollas are more expensive compare to the 2020 when they first came out. As of Canadian's have so called "more features" you forget the price we pay compared to the American market. Now let me tell you, when you are getting a car in Canada, there are alot of factors that can damage a car, But if you feel like, you have never had an issue well.. when you do have an issue with the new cars, you pay a hefty price. Also You are not able to get a aftermarket key remote start as you will break the contract (it states in the warranty contact, that if new second party should mess with any part of the car that includes technology you lose your warranty), lose your money, and your warranty. Do Not Forget, these features are all standard on a Honda so you do not need to pay to get them. You also forget all the other factors I mentioned that Honda has over toyota, what is your response to that? As I have said and I will say again, the Honda has all these features over a toyota: STANDARD keyremote start, STANDARD Moonroof, and as of 2023 a 1.5L turbo engine making amazing power, a 7.3L/100km fuel consumption which is amazing, STANDARD heated steering wheel, STANDARD electric moving seats, STANDARD duel climate. Your argument on staying with a corolla is flawed in so many points.
@yas_iin9357 Жыл бұрын
@@alvinsimba734 I also do not know if you live in Ontario, but if you do then I am sure you have never been to BOTH toyota and Honda dealerships and saw the differences between the prices. I have went to both dealerships and was offered quotes from both. Honda won the race.
@alvinsimba734 Жыл бұрын
@@yas_iin9357 first for all before I even tell you the reasons below. In regards to your 1.5 litre turbo engine that you keep raving about I highly suggest you watch hondamobilemechanic KZbin channel about what to look for in that engine... too many flaws.. . Hopefully you have the 2 litre one if you love honda that much. Secondly Honda just added blind spot monitoring on their 2022 models especially on civics which never existed back in 2020 when I got my corolla LE instead of SE which I will explain why in a bit on this thread. Honda I can give them credit for having remote starters on their fobs and yes I did get an aftermarket remote starter on my corolla yes, but you need to ask yourself how much I got it for, but for the price of it, it was cheap... I will explain more if need be. Thirdly, you don't know whether I leased or financed the vehicle. In this case when I picked that the corolla LE trim it was for many reasons over other trims especially with our Canadian roads and winter, I'm from Maritimes by the way and we get more extreme weather compared to Ontario... will chat later about that... Vehicles are very pricey for 2023 for number of reasons and their interest rates alone will deter potential buyers from getting new ones. Another reason was Honda was way too expensive in my town and their interest rates were shit compared to what toyota offered me so i went with them. Canadians do get more standard features compared to Americans because these companies know that Americans care about 0-60, thats all they talk about and yes we Canadians pay more in everything which is true. Also you sir mentioned about potential things breaking out along with potential expensive fixes due to adding items on the vehicle.... right guess what, yes things happen but the chances of that happening with my vehicle are quite slim. The dealers will always tell you that if you add other stuff on vehicles it voids warranty, the answer is not everything, one has to know what they doing. For instance for the remote starter on my corolla LE, I did add it as it wouldn't interfere with the functionality of the vehicle either way and won't void the warranty if at all and you may also be wondering which starter I got, that's something you may wanna ask. Also you mentioned about amazing 18 inch wheels hmmm.... those 18 inch wheels makes the rider rougher and those potholes would love you so much and my LE has 16 inch wheels which gives that softer ride which I enjoy everyday. Back in 2020 when I got my corolla, Honda wanted to give me their stupid LX trim for $33k CAD once everything was calculated after spending almost 30 minutes of talking to "Managers"... whereas at toyota it only took them 3 minutes to agree a price and was in financing office for 15 minutes tops and out of the door got that vehicle for $22.7K Canadian.... so big difference in my experience. Honda may be good for you but you really need to watch hondamobilemechanic KZbin channel, you are going to need it badly. Another thing is do you use a the features on your vehicles and sunroof for me I don't need it especially if I plan to own the vehicle long term due to potential leaks and also you know our monopole with insurance rates where its most expensive here in North America. Speaking of insurance, Honda civics are very expensive for insurance due to being stolen along with that race history from teenagers as their first vehicle. Let's see what happens in 10 to 15 years with your Honda and my toyota and also how much you spend for maintenance, that is if we have them for that long. The civic doesn't even have hybrid trim which is where they will lose to Toyota but even then I can bet you with my life that they will probably put it on top trim the touring trim. If you have more to say I'm right here.

Oooh this seems like a really good car! I wonder what people will be saying about this generation (E210 Corolla) 10 or 20 years from now.
@simplybeautifulvr Жыл бұрын
we All know that Toyota's and Honda's are reliable and will be around for our kids, kids to own.... but bro I had this car for over a month as a rental and I couldn't wait to give it back. yes it's reliable, but it also felt like I was driving a flinstone car. idk....then again I'm use to driving my Lexus RX. Before my Lexus I owned, and still have my 2004 Honda accord and that feels better on the road than this 2023 corolla.

I bet the 2.0 won’t last as long as the 1.8 engine.
@wtrdogg20 Жыл бұрын
It has been on the Lexus line up and it is really good. That 2.0 Dynamic Force is used on several Toyota models around the world and it has proven to be reliable and capable. It is the same engine used in the Corolla Cross and in the Rav4 2.0 offered in Japan, Europe and Latin America. It is a more than capable and durable engine.
@theholt2ic219 Жыл бұрын
@@wtrdogg20 I like how people assume these engines are untested lol Toyota is known to test their engines the most extensive. This engine isn’t new either. If there is any company you can trust for Almost all their power train options it’s Toyota

I got a Civic and I am looking to replace it with a Corolla XSE... Recent Hondas always have something they could have done better or forgotten in their models for the price... Pros: Reliable (?), peppy (even though 0-60 is 7.8), has a lot of little creature comforts. Cons: Feels a little cheap, over-priced (new), annoying seat belt sound.
