Here is a great satire of Herb talking about were they all came from while listening to a great track. Clip is from the 1967 Herb and TJB Singer show shown on NBC. Tune is from Whipped Cream album. Enjoy.
P.S. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Herb and Lani play at Blues Alley in Georgetown Washington DC 12 May 2008. The show was absolutely spectacular. After all these years, they both still have it: the skills and the love. Truly a remarkable show. Herb and Lani, thanks to all of the wonderful years of warming our hearts with your great art work. You both are truly blessed as well as I was at your show.

Thank goodness for KZbin. Thank goodness for Herb Alpert!!! I was just a child, my parents had his albums and my siblings were allowed to play them on the record player. I would sit and stare at the covers, listening to the music. It made me feel so happy and so in love with Herb Alpert.

This is AWESOME!! I think the number one thing that depresses me is when I realize that it was all better back in the 60's and 70's ,music, sports, life/. This song is a classic example. true greatness. Thankfully it's all preserved. But those times can never truly be duplicated.

Great stuff. My dad played this stuff so much when I was a kid that it's practically the soundtrack of my first ten years of life. Nothing but good memories. It always me think of flying to Las Vegas in 1967, on a 707. The visual just fits the music so well.

In my opinion, this is TJB's best song. People don't realize these songs were recorded by the "Wrecking Crew". All studio musicians!! with the great Hal Blaine on drums. Then Herb got very famous and he had to put a band together after that.

Thanks! I'll give it another listen to Quiet Vill;age. with a focus on the marimba playing. Julius was co-arranger on several TJB songs, usually listed on the record's center label. Maybe there's a video or print interview with Herb, talking about his friendship & co-producing with Julius. This past summer I was in the DC/Maryland area and got to hear the amazing TJB tribute band called Black Sombrero Brass. You can hear clips of their music on their website. I got their CD, very good!

Herb Alpert is a shining example of what an expert someone could become back in the day music and fine arts were still taught in schools. Today's kids don't know their circle of fifths. Yes Bob Edmondson is a multiinstrumentalist. You can see him playing bongos maracas and many other instruments as well as trombone. I think he was also Chief Comedy Relief. He's a funny guy. Question: what's the TJB song Tonni Kalash played at the end of his funny bit there?

What's really funny here is that they're sitting and listening to a tape of "Lollipops And Roses" as if they had JUST recorded it minutes earlier. Fact is, that whole "Whipped Cream" album was recorded by session musicians (now known as the "Wrecking Crew") and none of "the" Tijuana Brass shown in this clip were on that song or that album.
