@@soondubu. I guess technically youre right, but i meant one should learn the classic/standard B bar chord. Hes using his ring finger to press The D, G and B strings, while his middle and pinky do nothing. He should be baring with his peter pointer, pressing on the D string with his middle, G string with his ring, and B string with his pinky. Learning that chord shape applies all over the neck, not just as a B chord. Its a very versatile and important chord to learn to do properly. You can do alot with it.

@@benharwin6521 the way he plays C and Cm is objectively not an efficient way to play it. It makes more sense to play them both as a barre chord. That has nothing to do with learning the song, and melody. If you learn the song, chords and melody then you would also learn the chords move down the fretboard instead of generally staying in the same position. Your comment makes no sense because I got all of this information from watching the band play, listening to the song, learning the chords, and then learning the actual guitar part.

And it’s not the right way. Thom doesn’t barre the C, and they do sound different. The Barred C is what armatures think pros do because it’s “easier”. Pros make the big chord shape jumps because it serves the song, not their hand muscles.

That's an interesting point. How would you improvise or right a solo over it? Alot of people would say G major borrow this and that but it's definitely harmonic major sounding. harmonic major is the only scale mode that has a I III7 iv ( major 1 chord, dominant7 3 chord and a minor/major7 4 chord. So only the major 4 chord is borrowed from major. That makes it lydian. So improvise harmonic major (12345b67 Major b6 pentatonic 1 2 3 5 b6) over the first 2 chords, lydian (123#4567 or lydian pentatonic 123#46 or 13 #4 5 7) over the 3rd chord and back to harmonic major (lydianb3) over the 4th chord. That's how I like to hear it and improvise over it anyway. You could play it as mixolydian b6 1, altered over the III7, (Borrow over the major 4) Melodic minor over the minor 4. Like I said there's alot of ways to look at it. It's a very unique sounding progression. Any time I play or hear those first 2 chords it sounds like that song and to me it sounds like it activates harmonic major. The chords are actually Gmajor7 B7 Cmajor7 Cminor/major7
