I'm no fan of Ukip's policies or Nigel Farage but despite our differences I hope I can find some common ground with the party's only MP, Douglas Carswell.

wrigley090 Carswell isn't quick witted enough in a quickfire to do battle with Jones, he should have slapped down the commie start. Firstly, Jones sets the tone, by dividing the so called 'rich' and poor', of course there is nobody seriously poor in the country when anyone living here is in the top 5% in the world automatically, and neither is there any 'poverty' other than by the made up metrics by people like Jones, in fact the only thing we find is that people in lower income brackets are more obese, from being poor or in poverty presumably. Secondly there is a narrative when talking about 'the rich' or 'poor' that people stay in low income jobs, most people do not stay in low income jobs their entire lives, except in the class warfare mind of Jones. Then there is also the problem of immigration, and explaining why English taxpayers should be expected to pay tax credits, and why the should somehow feel guilty about not paying that.... and you can just go on... Owen isn't smart to anyone who is actually capable of thinking.

Reason that UKIP think the NHS is exempt from their typical Free Market thinking is because they know the vast majority of their voters, supporters, members are the wrong side of 50 and on low-middle incomes so they would not be able to afford Private Medical Care and UKIP being seen to encourage this way of thinking would have lost them a lot of votes and support. It was a tactical decision not a political belief.

Really, really good job Owen. You actually pushed some points, which seems to have gone completely out of favour these days and better still, you actually let the guy speak (though it was his eyes that said far more than his mouth IMO). The person that springs to mind the most that I'd like to see/hear you chat with would be Boris and why he bought millions of pounds 'worth' of water cannons without consent and why he even wants to have such weaponry to intimidate and put down protesters. Why, in his words does he want to end democracy for those that disagree with him (along with a whole host of other things, but that one's really got my goat by the neck). Hope you're having a good day and I look forward to watching/reading you again soon.

I'm a big fan of NHS, probably biased towards Labour. I have to say though, that the question of private elements in the NHS to be regularly presented naively. Put it this way, no organisation can do everything. We don't expect the NHS to manufacture the toilet paper it uses. And if it did, we wouldn't expect them to chop down the trees to make the paper. Or plant the trees. Fact is, that every organisation is dependent on other organisations, and invariably with the NHS, that will largely be private organisations. I doubt anyone would argue with the NHS buying in toilet paper, pens, uniforms and so on. The question is where the line is drawn. Instead of a knee jerk reaction that ANY private outsource must be bad because they are profiting, we must instead consider efficiencies and cost effectiveness.

One of the chief reason Labour is disliked by the poorly paid people who it should represent is TAX ... I love ol Jones but you have to realise that the subject of tax is poison. . . Working men get their payslip and see the 40% tax like a kick in the balls. Think of a different way, don't tax income, people work too hard for that. Tax profit, tax land, tax the money itself. DON'T TAX THE PEOPLE.

When the public health system comes to discussion many people forget what's the cost of a private consultation and how they operate, generally speaking. For example, a normal hearing test, fitting of a hearing aid and subsequent revisions costs you around £3500. NHS won't charge you (what it doesn't mean is free). Insurance companies will kick you out or deny if you start requiring more expensive treatments (including a basic hearing aid, chemotherapy,...). However, those same companies will gladly offer their services to NHS (the same services where they will ban you). That's the "moral" of business. Those countries who have partially privatised or depend heavily on third party private companies know that the quality of the services becomes less important than the cost. Many people would argue that you should change your provider, but the truth is that those changes take so, so long that the system is damaged forever. So of course it affects low paid workers. But not only! Great interview, Owen.

Good one Owen, met you in Glasgow; don't know if you remember. Why don't you interview Jimmy Nolan, Terry Tigue, Terry Southers, Micky Tighe, Doreen McNally, Kevin Robinson or more from the 1995-1997 Liverpool dockers dispute. These people bravely fought against casualisation and the principle to never cross a picket line. You can contact them via the CASA on Hope Street, Liverpool. Comradely Pauline

Jeremy Corbyn. Someone needs to give the man the screentime he deserves, without constant mockey and interruptions (which unfortunately you also seem to get your fair share of). As has been previously mentioned, I would like to hear more about his policies as opposed to watching him having to constantly defend himself against accusations about his 'friends'.

Good interview Owen, Douglas is a very highly respected MP by his Clacton constituents which is why they still vote for him, despite his defection to UKIP. You should interview Farage and Corbyn (seperately) saying as neither are entirely sold on the EU, but are on very different sides of the political spectrum.

Good interview he dose seem like a nice man, could you talk to some northern Irish politicians at some point , we tend to be forgotten. Like the DUP have the same number of sits as the Liberal Democrats but are but are rarely mentioned.

It was an interesting interview, but it would have been nice if it were longer and he was able to say how he wanted to reform the democratic system. He seems like an ideas guy - I don't often agree with him but I respect the process by which he arrives at his opinions. In a similar vein, it would be interesting to see you interview Douglas Murray. From the other side, it would be fun to see you talk to George Galloway. Is the Labour party coming back towards Galloway now? Cheers Duncan

THORNTONOLLIE except no imitations I doubt it. She wouldn't want to damage the Greens. Also people would still vote for Caroline. Caroline increased on her Majority last time and Brighton is a Green Strong Hold. it's a marginal that Caroline turned into a Green safe seat.

Go and interview Sir Richard Leese of Manchester about his view on the Northern Powerhouse and whether southerners will ever really let it happen. Go and interview Alex Salmond about the SNP's view on how to build a Scottish-Northern England 'economic cell', breaking many traditional dependencies on London/SE. Go and interview a Conservative in Wales about whether Wales can ever become economically prosperous as a Labour/left wing enclave. Go and interview some people from Hull, Lincoln and Sunderland about whether the northern East coast of England will forever be 'left out' of national infrastructure priorities and what they can do in such circumstances. Go and interview Jim Steer of Greengauge 21 about long-term HSR in this country, its economic case and why Treasury rules confound such cases being made. Interview someone who thinks that a spine of HS2 should go to Heathrow, Gatwick and Ashford and ask whether this will lead to better HSR access to the entire South Coast and maybe in time the SW of England and Wales as well. Interview Sir Norman Foster about their template 'hub airport' and why the UK is incapable of ever developing an integrated transport policy. In short, interview people beyond the bubble of the House of Commons.

Hi Owen, I'm not of the same political perspective as you, but I have to confess to getting a little hooked on your videos. As well as the Labour leadership candidates, it would be interesting to see you discussing issues with policy thinktank chiefs: IFS, SMF, Policy Exchange, CPS, ASI etc. The broad public may not be so very familiar with these individuals, but in Westminster they are certainly quietely influential in circulating ideas. Maybe find a better place to conduct the interviews though. That one looked a little awkward seating position wise for both. St James Park?

Great stuff, Owen. Definitely speak to Corbyn if you can and Caroline Lucas too, but I'd love to see you interviewing some grassroots activists more so than politicians. Give a platform to the voices that aren't being heard in the mainstream. The Artist Taxi Driver was a great suggestion! Also you should perhaps make a guest appearance on the Trews to promote your channel and boost your subscribers.
