The horses who get spooked by the public, pa systems etc are behaving entirely naturally. What amazes me really is just how good the police horses are. They don't seem to be worried by anything.

​@lynnbean7200 they go through a lot of constant training with loud noises and large banners etc to desensitise them for things like protests and riots. Don't know what kind of training they do for these horses though.

Use a different Bit. I don't think the Horse cares for this Bit. I think it hurts his mouth. Major head tossing and moving of the tongue. Just what I'm tuning into. This is a Majestic Beautiful Horse. Hope you will consider trying a few different bits. Best Wishes.

I thought exactly the same about the bit. I’m not a horse person either but it was clearly irritated by the bit in his mouth. Every time either guard or soldier tried to pull on the reins he would try and head butt them away. The horse was clearly unhappy and wanted to go back in but each time he tried they just kept bringing him back out. Why? It was distressing to watch and distressing for the horse - and obviously for the rider who had to press the panic button (and the response coming was way too slow). And why let the public so close? Is it really necessary? It’s only a matter of time before a horse gets spooked and a member of the public gets injured!

The handler is doing a good job, rider is helping. These are not police horses and may no be used to loud noises. Poor babe take him out and replace with a horse who can cope, or ban rubbish near them

My only problem is sometimes it takes to long to get someone out there to help after the button is pushed. These guards are so in tune to these horses but the horses can be unpredictable if spooked to take flight. Its a natural defence they have.

Just because you make sure everyone can hear you.. Won't make a tad bit of difference to whether anyone is actually listening to you. Shouldn't be allowed to have PA Systems near the horses. Especially when it's obviously spooking this one. Police should have the powers to make them move away or ditch the PA system. Public safety issue, surely?

That was a big heavy horse. The people demonstrating are immature children who are saying look at me, look at me. No one cares two hoots about the content of the demonstration, especially so if you’re on holiday or trying to get to work.

How about taking part in Ceremonies like Queens Funeral , Coronation , State Opening of Parliament , Trooping The Colour , Household Cavalry Musical Ride are those " real jobs " ? They don't just stand at Horse Guards that's a small part of the Ceremonial duties they are trained for !
