I just finished putting together my first coodercaster guitar inspired by you and the info you have provided on coodercasters over the last couple years. (Mojo pickups, mjt thinline tele, warmoth neck). And I also just acquired a filmosound amp too. Thanks for all you do on this channel!

Mate I used to do this all the time in the early days of Ebay. I won and bought tons of guitars from Japan. Mainly Fender and Tokai and a few Burnys. I was reselling in the UK. Great while I wasn't getting charged customs charges then they absolutely killed it.Kept a few back but still regret selling some of them but I got some mind blowing bargains back in the day.

Nice one Glen glad you got some bargins yes customs charges are something you always have to figure in the price

Your channel is great. I have a Navi 480 and an obg 335. Really great to find someone so into these guitars but also the meticulous history of British blues stuff.
@joelang40785 жыл бұрын
Btw the Navi neck is a little too big for me but no other MIJ guitars have as quality specs. The obg nitro isn’t the same, the tokai tenon isn’t as long. Burnys are almost all poly, Grecos almost always have huge necks and many have veneers. And Edwards are more often than not made in China. My Navi is in the shop getting some Throbaks to replace the antiquities. Your site also persuaded me *not* to buy a PRS. So my wallet thanks you! :)

Your channel is a great find, glad to hear you have some interesting projects coming up but if you can any future coffee chats would be great to see. Thanks for the info here, I hear there are some great Japanese guitars but they are hard to get in the states because of somebody's lawyers......starts with G. Supposedly there was/is one Japanese factory that has turned out several great brands there.

I read that the CITES was amended earlier this year to only apply to Brazilian rosewood??
@HuyVu-vi4ut2 жыл бұрын
@@danielbentley7117 Hi. So what happened to your guitar? Can you receive it without any problem? I also hear that CITES bans only rosewood? But not sure what rosewood? And also as a individual customer, it doesn't affect you?
@danielbentley71172 жыл бұрын
@@HuyVu-vi4ut I received it all ok, no damage and good condition. Even got a free PRS hard gig bag with it which I wasn't expecting. But that was last year before Buyee stopped sending goods to the UK and Europe. So you will need to check if Japan will still send to your country since they changed the rules this year (nothing to do with CITES / type of wood, it's a general change to the rules on all exports to the UK and EU).

Hi, I just got an ESP through Yahoo auction, they are trying to charge me $550 fro DHL and saying they cant ship via EMS?? I am losing mind trying to deal with the. I know people have been shipped guitars via EMS with buyee before so dont know what is going on???
@TheGuitarShow5 жыл бұрын
Ship it to buyee in japan and they will ship it to you via ems
@virtue6965 жыл бұрын
@@TheGuitarShow Hi, Yeah Buyee have the guitar. They are saying they cannot ship to Australia because it is too big for EMS. Japan post has 1.5m listed for Australia in one section, and in another section it says 1.05.. I am sure 1.05 is for domestic packages. They are refusing to ship it any other way than DHL, looks like it will just have to stay in the warehouse.. The package is 1.3m
@TheGuitarShow5 жыл бұрын
@@virtue696 you could ask them to take. It out the case. They pack things really well. So sure the guitar would be fine just you will loose the hard case if it comes with one
@virtue6965 жыл бұрын
@@TheGuitarShow I am that desperate I even asked if they could just bubblewrap it to get it within the limit but they refuse to make it smaller. It is truly confusing, all the sellers from Japan on Reverb and Ebay are still listing EMS for Australia so word obviously hasn't got out about the change.

It had better not have been the last Coffee Chat, Ramon (& stop putting yourself down). Another fascinating, solo Coffee Chat which I enjoyed thoroughly. I now feel confident that, had I the money & ability, were l to see a guitar to be auctioned in Japan I'd feel familiar with the whole purchasing & shipping process. One future subject perhaps, could be electro - acoustic instruments, their pros & cons?

The CITES ban on endangered woods is world wide. Theoretically you need a CITES cerficate fo export and import for woods on the list, so even if it gets successfully exported from Japan, you might have problems at that import end should customs decide to have a look at it. I"m not sure what the consequences of "illegally" importing would be but the guitar might be impounded. Getting a legitimate CITES certificate is a right palava, costing money and time, so I know a lot of sellers are simply not bothering exporting guitars with woods on the list. Of course if you buy a guitar made alder and maple , like a Tele, this doesn't apply.
