People are so overprotective of kids now a days. What if they get bumped, what if they get jostled, what if what if. Bravo to you and Marc for teaching them independence and letting them explore their world.

I have only been to America a couple of times but was 13 when my family went to New York. Our flight had been delayed and it was close to midnight when we arrived in the city. We hadn't eaten and we were going to have apple pie at the hotel restaurant but my parents thought that it was too expensive. So we went to find somewhere else to eat. My dad traveled a lot for work so he took off at a confident pace while Mum, my sister and I tried to keep up. It was quite the education and in the end Mum yelled out to Dad to stop and wait. She pointed out the night life and said to Dad that she didn't think it was the right time to be out at night. We ended up back at the hotel restaurant eating apple pie. I grew up in New Zealand and we had only seen New York City in movies so I think it's understandable that people who don't live in a city only know the crime rates and types of crime that is rife in certain areas of New York City. You can't argue with statistics and the people you call overprotective have a valid reason to be aware of where their children are. Children can still be independent and explore their world while being in sight of their parents. Whenever you see this family you can see Mark naturally looking over the kids. I'm sure Amber does as well but it's normally Mark we see as Amber is filming them. If you think that people are concerned about a person bumping into their child then you need to educate yourself so that you are not so naive.

I think God has blessed your children with great parents, with great family finances in an expensive city and with great experiences. You are able to spend a large amount of money for expensive food, expensive music education a, trips, expensive outings etc all enriching the Childrens lives. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. I have been working class all my life so the things you eat and get to do are another world for me.
