I love that you guys actually cook what you grow and harvest, and what you cook actually looks delicious. I love that you don't continually preach about how much better your lifestyle is (you just show it). I love that you actually can build stuff on your own. I love that you don't have a host of fans or off camera helpers doing the work. I love that you aren't taking handouts from your audience, or that you haven't had a nervous breakdown, or exploit your children for views. You just kind of do your thing, honestly and impressively.

I think showing everything is tacky. The Hollars remain private whilst reaching out to us. They have the balance right. But I agree that prostituting your family (on a well-known chanel) could backfire when the children are older.

Ben, How about if you took super thin wood/plastic/etc maybe 8 inch x water pipe length and attach the top edge to the side and let the other edge hang down against the outside top of the water pipe. Creating a half roof over the waterpipe that chickens would slide off of, so no drinking bird get pooped on. lol Meg, when you open y'all's oven I drool a little. Guys, great to see you being cool farm hands, respect. Littlest is a joy, I here for the next 20 years to see who she grows into.

A tip for the water tube. Hang a steel wire an inch above the tube, make sure it's tight and won't sag. If a chicken or chick tried to get on the tube to roost they end up on the wire, they won't be able to get a grip and will slide off.

I learned recently, that if you use pepper peppercorn, you should roast the pepper corns before you mill them.(roast them like a nut) I didn’t believe this, but I roasted them in a skillet on the stove top, and I am pleasantly surprised because I don’t even use a fraction of the amount of Pepper I used to use. The peppercorn flavor is extremely intensifies the flavor of the pepper corns. Also read an article that they said, instead of throwing the skin of a tomato away there’s a lot of nutrients in the skin of the tomato there if you dehydrate and powder tomato skin. Now I’m new to your channel. I just found it this week and these are things learned recently. Hope this is useful if not, please disregard. Thank you Hollar family for all your hard work!

Last Thursday we had a huge lightening flash storm for about 3 - 4 hours it was 10X better than fireworks with all the blues, pinks, purples, and greens, and yellows. Then the wind picked up to about 45 m.p.h. and the sky dumped the rain. My county, most lost their power. Some just got it back on this evening. Many limbs & branches down. But previous storms had already taken the weak trees down this summer. I love the lightshows.

Nice built chicken tractor. A job well done. The chicken tractor need a barrier at the bottom to keep critters out, also to keep the blowing rain from getting on them. On the weekends when you guys don't post videos my KZbin algorithm feeds me old hollar videos. Awesome chicken tractor 👍. 🐓🐓 The end of the video, minus the lightning, I sit out on my step every night and listen to the night bugs. A lot of ppl here say August bugs, some others say summer bugs 😄 because spring is frogs and crickets. A bug is a bug 👍. But listening to them in the dark is somehow just soothing. So glad you got rain 😕. It rains here every few days. And I mean it RAINS. A lot of my beefsteak tomatoes are splitting cause of so much wet. Those are my slicer tomatoes 😩. I’ll have some but not like I wanted.
