THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING SMOOTHLY BEFORE REPLACEMENT BUT OVERHEATED AT TIMES AND HAD A SLOW COOLANT LEAK. THANKS FOR WATCHING, CHECK OUT MY OTHER VIDEOS AND SUBSCRIBE IF YOU WANT. Nice, u really know you're way around fixing up cars. Also i love american cars, how almost everything has a v8 in it and oh boy the sounds... Couldn't even think about getting a v8 here where i'm from, thing gets expensive really fast because of the fuel prices, gasoline here is like 1,4€ per liter( so around 7 dollars per gallon?). Glad u got that van running again. A thing can last along time @ the right hands.

Wow 7 a gallon! It’s gonna get like that over here soon with the crazy politicians we have, I honestly wish people drove more fuel efficient vehicles over here, I need a v8 or a diesel cause I tow a lot but a lot of people in the USA waste fuel and drive huge trucks and never tow anything lol.

Nice work Darrell. That engine is really buried under that dash. Work the work though, its a nice straight looking van. Mad to think they put big V8s in vans over there! About the biggest we've got here are the 5 cylinders TDi or TDCI in the VW Transporter or the top of the line transits. Most vans are 2.0-2.5 4 cylinder diesels with manual transmissions.

Thanks Dave! I would love to have a diesel van! That would be so cool! I just love anything with a diesel. I pull really heavy trailers full of shingles when I roof houses and I need something that can pull that even though I usually pull it with a truck now. It’s been a good van and it hauls a lot of weight everyday with all the tools and supplies I use. Thanks for watching!!

Great work! Question for you... That looks like the 6.0L. to change the motor mounts, it hard? There doesn't seem to be any space to life up the engine. I can see you definitely have the space when you take everything off though.

I’ve found a 08 3500 with 95k with a blown head gasket, for only 2000. After watching this, how easily could you replace the head gasket from internally. Not looking for anything too invasive. Let me know what you think. Thanks

It can be done in the frame I’m pretty sure of that, being able to access the rear of the engine really helps! Thanks for watching my friend !!

I decided to tackle head gaskets in the vehicle on my 2007 Econoline. I know it's a different make, but it was a pain in the arse for sure. All the extra time I spent going inside and back out or screwing around on the floor... I wished I had taken it out. So much more room to work if you have the tools!

So you used a rachet strap to hold the tranmission up while the engine was out? I love leaning short cuts. The one I'm doing I'm able to pull the whole radiator surport fan shroud and all in one piece .

I have a 2004 GMC 3500 6.0 LQ4. It has over 1 million miles. Still runs smooth but that last 4 to 5 years I lost half my oil pressure. 2 years ago I lost all pressure. I did everything trying to get it back. Then I changed all the main bearings except the rear as you have to disconnect from the trans. It gave me my half pressure back. Is small business owners have to do a lot of the work ourselves and this was the deepest I’ve ever gone into an engine. But now I’m debating doing the engine myself as now the engine is closer to 3k and install another 3k. Which I just don’t have. I own a carpet cleaning business and the equipment runs off the van engine so if it’s down I’m down. How long did this job take you and is there any advice you can give me or things that may be a problem doing this for the first time? We have a company here in Virginia with your name, is that you?

that’s amazing these are pretty good engines I believe you can do it he just have to have a engine lift I took the whole front bumper and everything off as you can see it really didn’t take that long I think I did it in a weekend I paid $2000 for the engine off eBay from a company called engines direct and it’s been a pretty good engine so far I’m sure they have gone up in price now though I believe you can do it if you can get some days off

I'm looking at getting a newer Chevy Express cargo Van I would be looking at a brand new one if they still had the V8 available which now would be a 400 small block 6.6 L, L8T. The only engine available I believe is the 4.3 V6. That includes 1 ton. The only two circumstances that I know of that you can get the bigger V8. That is passenger vans and cutaway vans. Which is too much man for me and I'm not carrying passengers.

You can find a low mileage used one with the 6.6. I’ve seen them listed with 10-30 k miles for decent price. Might be the way to go if you really want one.
