I would very much like a video on the economics of a hoof trimming business. I also would love to see: 1. A Q&A on your tattoos and what they say; 2. An explanation of how you sanitize, esp. the sander; 3. Have you ever come across hoof and mouth disease in a herd, and what happened? 4. Do you ever have dreams, good or bad, involving cows, and what were they? :) Thank you!!! Never get tired of watching your channel!

I spent Hogmanay in Kilmarnock as my husband had cochlear implant surgery there on the 31st. A long way from our home in Aberdeen but the perfect spot for his first step towards being able to hear me tell him I love him again. 2024 was a tough year, I lost my Dad early in the year and hubby's health went downhill just after. He woke up at the beginning of August completely deaf. Since then we've been struggling to learn sign language and lip reading just to have a normal life. Never take the little things for granted! All the best to everyone for 2025 and may every day give you a reason to smile and allow you to be happy and healthy at the end of each day. xx

It’s early Saturday 1:53am and I’m just grateful to be alive after a very painful fall on Thursday morning. It took three hours of struggle to realize I couldn’t get up so I called for an ambulance. The crew were amazing. Then hours on a flat board with a collar to immobilize my neck, a Ctscan and X-rays found no broken bones but I’ll be bruised. I lost one of my dear friends to cancer (melanoma) Dec27. She was a beautiful soul and fought her cancer with grace and a smile. I had my own health crisis 6 years ago and spent a lot of time in hospitals. Her dream was when she “got better (sadly she didn’t),” She wanted us to get our dogs certified as hospital therapy dogs. I had a roommate for years who was bipolar and when her meds were off she frequently tried unsuccessfully to commit suicide. Her stepdad or I would find her and take her to hospital. She eventually got meds under control and lived a long time. I lived for thirty years in west Texas near three large dairies. Never knew hooves were trimmed til watching you! My Mother was Scottish ancestry. I’ve always had a very strong yearning to visit. If I live long enough. When the cottages get renovated I’d love to spend a month there and immerse myself in the country side. I’m a country girl. My friend just returned from there and brought me a rock so I have a wee bit of the Scots with me. You have a beautiful family and great relatives. I enjoy Craig. Welcome to my world of digging up treasures around your home. I am in an 1860's home and lost count many years ago of the horseshoes I have found. Old draft, lighter hackney and carriage, as well as ridden. Old curry combs, scissors, old clocks, knives, stirrups, tractor crank handles, sythe blades, rusted hand tools (barely recognisable anymore), sulky, gig, carriage, wagon and cart metal parts, an enormous triangular traction engine dray pull, and a cast iron loo cistern with lid intact, and a multitude of saws and wheels. You will find lots buried around an old farm yard. What a great project. You could look to save at least one of the cow byres as a nod to the history of the barn. It could have a bed set into it, a nice wooden rail could be set along the top each side....endless decorating possibilities. Shame the old milk can is so rusted around the base. That is what happens when people keep old metal items outside instead of under cover where they are protected from the elements. I have found more brass tags on cream cans than milk cans, not sure why? I know you like music. Do you listen to Ren? He sings of topics which are close to your heart and is a UK (Welsh/Brighton but don't hold that against him!) artist. A once in a lifetime talent in all manner of music styles. He is a proponent of highlighting chronic illnesses and mental health amongst other societal issues. I would love to hear your thoughts on his music, Graeme, if you are unfamiliar. If you have not listened to him, for the full experience, begin with Hi Ren.

Another great video. I really look forward to watching the renovations that you and Mrs. HGP are planning to do on your new farm. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to understand your layout for the place, but that's ok, as long as you do. We don't have places like that available in Canada, but I really enjoy watching it get done in the UK. You are lucky in that respect. By the way, your dinner made me hungry. That design of the cattle holding pen looks like a design Dr. Temple Grandin did. I dont know if she is known over there, but here in North America, she has done a lot for the cattle industry, as well as other livestock. The greatest thing about Temple is she is Autistic, and what she has achieved in her life is extraordinary. The other thing that I am impressed with is your ability to trim cows hoofs with such accuracy. I realize you have been doing this for a while, but I'm still impressed. Learning about the finances of the business would be very interesting. Thanks for sharing your life with the rest of the world. 🇨🇦
@kristineteall3683 күн бұрын
You were right to think of Temple Grandin, she is the one to design much of how we care for move cattle today. Even the crushes used by livestock farmers of all kinds. She doesn’t get far enough credit for it, but I think she’s okay with that though.

Graeme, can I just take a second to admire your grinder skills!!! 😮 I've only been wasting since Aug 24' but I've watched 90% of your videos in chronological order while recovering from back surgery. You have fine-tuned your grinders over a few short years and are absolutely amazing with them. Your knife skills are phenomenal. This is going to sound weird, but sometimes when I see the thinest slivers of horn peel away, which looks effortlessly, BTW, but the slivers remind me of shaved parmesan. And a huge shout out to Craig for sharpening those knives. Happy New Year to the Herd!!! My goal in 25' is focus on mine & my family's physical fitness. So far, we are all doing well with that.

Here’s an update on my situation folks. At 7:30am I was awoken by my neighbour telling me to be prepared to evacuate. A building very near to my place was on fire. I’m not ready to drive anywhere after my fall Thursday. I live in a retreat centre in a beautiful valley in the woods. It’s not a religious retreat but companies meet here to discuss their business plans or just do yoga. Anyway, the Meeting Hall was on fire and even some of the trees were burning. End story, it burned to the ground. Thankfully nobody was hurt. I hope my landlord has a good insurance policy to rebuild the hall. Thanks for being there.

I was thinking the same thing. I used to watch so many home renovations shows and I loved when they would take an old part and reuse it.

I know you’re the hoof GP channel but you should definitely do a wee side channel with your house renovation. That stuff is gold, and you have a good audience that would love to follow it.

Happy New Year to you and your crew and family. I just purchased your book and started it today. Congratulations on the new property. It looks like a ton of work but when you go into knowing the end result it's okay. I'm sure it will be beautiful. I would like to see a video of what you charge. Have a good weekend.

You are so right about the looking back and nostalgia when life is right there in front of you. When I was 45 I hurt my back bad, 2 surgeries later I could walk and even play golf, but now facing a worse surgery as things progress. I often think of the time before back problems and how healthy I was. BUT, we did appreciate every day before that and how blessed we were in life and love. 20 years on we still feel blessed even if not as healthy.

Wow! This is a project of a lifetime. It will take alot of time and work,but it will be well worth it! In a different time and circumstance, I would have loved to do this, perhaps on a slightly smaller scale though. Yes, the stone work is incredible and is why the structure is still intact and saveable. You have a lovely wife there. Congratulations on this new adventure in your future.👍

When I was in horseshoeing school, one of my instructors opined horseshoes should be put above the doorframe heels down. Not only is this the way horseshoers are accustomed to seeing horseshoes, he theorized if a horseshoe is lucky, it's always lucky, and if the heels are down, a little of the luck it's constantly producing falls on your head as you walk under it.

Happy 2025 guys. I'm enjoying reading your book Bruised Sole, I'm finding it really interesting and love the history you describe about where you grew up and the childhood you had. I'm finding it emotional in places. Great to see your vision to restore the farm buildings. Can't wait to see what you do with place. Good luck and thanks for posting.
