Cammie & Lizzy, congratulations on bringing in your first group of sheep. Im used to freezing temperatures, consider spreading a thin layer of sand when you are moving sheep, it will not hurt their hooves, and it will give you some grip too. Please be careful. Much love & respect to your whole family & all farmers. Without you, the world would starve.😊

There's a YT guy Marty T., in New Zealand that I started watching years ago because of his sheep, particularly his Angry Ram. Since AR passed, turns out Marty is also a master mechanic/ engineer who resurrects ancient derelict tractors and heavy equipment etc.. I mention him because he explains all about the parts on these various machines as he is repairing them, often with his young children 'helping'. He's great to watch even if you aren't a mechanic. often he gets the machines free or very inexpensive. He taught me something about my own car that two mechanics insisted couldn't be fixed, when I asked a third to check a certain part, it was exactly what was wrong. Saved me a fortune😊 Can't even imagine how much a new tractor costs these days.

And knowing farmers as I do look after the tools and they will look after you..

While Cammy shops the Water Bowls, he's considering the same sort of design as Sandi Brock has in her Finishing barn, where her Lambs are housed until they reach market weight or are returned to the Sheep Barn as replacements. I think her bowls are great sine they water on demand, saves wasted water, are too small for any lamb/sheep to harm themselves in [Sheep are NOT stupid, but they are incredibly curious and surprisingly playful, and thus get into trouble quite easily, like toddlers. So you do have to consider how inquisitive and how feral your flock is when shopping such equipment. Just noticed the exact same blue water bowl Sandi uses [I believe 4 bowls per side of the barn, which is not small. Each bowl can service a certain number of Lambs, and a different number of teen and adult sheep.] Its fun to live vicariously through Cammy's sharing of his adventure in owning his own Farm!

I love seeing that lambs in the barn/shed!! You did a good job driving that tractor too. I am sure you know this and have it already taken care of, but I would suggest get something like sand, gravel, or even clay kitty litter for that slope when it's icy. "Black ice" so deceiving because you can't see it until you are on it, your brain just registers it as being wet. I have had a couple of experiences driving on it already this winter in my area of Michigan. Jock is handling his little atv like a pro, maybe he could be a bigger help this spring and summer on it. LOL! DIY is a learn as you go thing for me because I am always changing how I want things to be before the project is done.

For diy have a look at some you tube channels where you will get some good coaching.

For that drill you bought, yes does need sds bits and also when drilling brick or concrete turn it to hammer and drill or you’ll be there hours. Also advise picking one brand and buying a normal battery drill and then you can add other tool from the like and impact gun or circular saw etc for future projects as well as not needing dreaded cables everywhere! The water pipe fitting unscrew grab the bit with lumps and twist. They could be fairly tight if not been undone for some time so mole grips may be necessary.

Slow down phone a friend, don't be afraid to ask for help when you don't know how to do something. Ask & research what will work best before you spend a lot of money. Call other farmers. Trade scanning or shearing for something other farmers can help you with. Buy what you can afford not brand new. Talk to Graham about his tool box he really likes then you won't loose everything you buy. Designate a place to secure tools & things that can be moved easily. Make a list prioritize; you can't do everything at once. Make a plan to increase gradually as you talk about pigs & cows. Be the best at one thing first. My father farmed we had chickens & sold eggs, pigs, cows, food & animal crops. Don't add to much add one thing established well first before adding more. Designate task to those who can help you. You & your family are very loved!!! We are all so proud of you & Lizzie. Praying God continues to shower you with blessing as you bring us so many smiles w/ your videos.

As for the drill. The bit should be sds type, pull the chuck at the back it will only fit in one position so it can't slip when drilling, same way to take it out. Have it on hammer setting on the dial on the side drill position, hammer setting for masonry, may have chistle setting as well. You may be able to remove the sds chuck completely & put a hss type drill on it for dilling wood/ steel. As for the pipe fittings get a adjustable spanner & put on topof the collar of the tap pipe you want to remove towards the tap & hit with a hammer, not to hard to release the jaws in the fitting to get the pipe out. you have to hold the collar down, with that type. Good luck. Your spending money like a machine gun. The person in the shop should have given you a demo with the drill.

Massey has a lot of options and with the engine can last 30 plus years. Just pay attention to changes of oils and such on time. Often you can get a rep to come to you to change and inspect. Massey Ferguson is part of AGCO, a US company. They also own Fendt and Valtra. Fendt are the Rolls Royce of tractors, John Deere probably have the best connectivity and technology, and the rest just try to match those two. Obviously you won’t be going new, so what you buy will depend on budget and what it needs to do. If it’s an MF you are looking at, any with a Sisu or Perkins engines are solid. Avoid CVT gearboxes unless you’ve a warranty.

We have a Kioti NS6010H Tractor (USA) with hydrostatic transmission. Hydrostatic is easy to use for the beginner user as it works similar to a mower - forward and back are on the same peddle. You need to decide what HP you think you need and add 5-10hp because you will find something that you wish you could do but can't because your tractor doesn't have enough power. Add a Grapple to pick up those logs you were talking about and also be able to pick up hay bales and other items that farmers tend to need to move around. Good luck 🍀with tractor shopping - you will most likely have to do as you always do and not look at the price of things because of sticker shock.
