Need a three-way valve so that all of the air goes into the motor. It wasn't a closed system, because the compressed air would just leak out the filter backwards. The dyno graph shows the brief spike, but that's probably due to just more volume of air, but not actual boost pressure.

The Y pipe that leads from the pressure supply and the atmospheric supply acts as a boost leak. The pressure should be lead directly into the intake and metering system so that, like a turbo, the air can be accounted for and fueld accordingly as its lead through the only path available. This set up makes the most optimal (lowest resistance) path back out through the air filter to atmosphere. Basically no intake because the air is being supplied and plumb it like a turbo or centrifugal supercharger with a regulator acting as a boost controller by limiting tank pressure to a manageable and unable amount.

This shows some solid promise on the potential in the compressed air tanks. Run the tanks to their rated pressure (likely around 200psi) with a regulator to restrict the airflow into the engine. This will get you more time on compressed air without additional tanks. Brad needs to give the carb a decent tune as it bogs down even in the baseline (no added air) mode.

Was there a check valve on the filter side? If not, that pressure was just feeding right out the air filter at the Y pipe by the carb.

All the pressure escapes from the air filter, there should be a ball valve and some sort of mechanism that closes off the air from going out of the air inlet while the air tanks open up and empty their capacity into the engine. It would probably lean out dramatically and melt all the pistons.

At 4,000 rpm a 5 liter engine eats 350 cfm of air. That is 2,600 gallons per minute or 43 gallons per second. You have 5 x 10 gallon tanks = 50 gallons = 1.2 seconds of boost.

compressed air charger has been around for some bit, even in rally racing they explored using the blow off valve to fill tanks so when you got back in throttle it would be instant boost.

Let's not forget Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust.

You have the world's biggest blowoff valve (aircleaner inlet), and it's always open. So, yet again, you have CFM but almost no PSI at the intake manifold. You need a one-way check valve, or flow-control valve for the air-cleaner intake port to keep your PSI from leaking out it when you open the high-pressure valve. Stuff like that is found in laboratory hood ducting systems.

It's sorta like having NOS but with way less oxygen in the same sized tank. Except you could refill it from outside air, even while you're driving around off boost, with a compressor on board.

Without a one way valve just behind the pod filter once the engine is consuming max air and the inlet pressure is high it would have just vented the excess pressure out of the pod filter. I think this is why it didn't blow up and was still slow.

Without a one way valve after the air filter most of that pressure is just going to go out of the air filter just saying. The reason it works with a turbo is because the turbo is forcing the compressed air only one way through the intake. Your setup is going to allow the air to take the path of least resistance which is out of the air filter instead of staying compressed.
