THE SERVANT! Thank you!!! I could have googled it but I was trying to figure it out as I was sure it’d come to me. God, it took me soooo long to figure out whether Leanne was friend or foe or neither in that show. The female characters were so polarising, both strong as hell and also damaged as fk but also potentially very dangerous, whilst the male characters were largely so benign and unfit for duty. Not talking about “cult members”, just those in the household. I loved the show so much.

As a huge fan of the original, I went into this with zero expectations and I absolutely loved it. The first five minutes alone made me realise that the creators were also massive fans of the original as it completely set the same tone so after that I was able to just relax and enjoy the film. Even the retconning of Damien’s parentage didn’t bother me in the slightest as narratively it actually makes a lot more sense. This is absolutely my favourite film of the year, possibly decade, maybe millennia. I could be just excited cos I just watched it two days ago though.

Mildly heartwarming theory; Brennan lied to Thorn about who the Jackal was to keep Margaret safe. As we saw here, it was the father, but in the original, he said it was a mother. I think he was trying to keep Thorn from going anywhere near Margaret out of a sense of protection.

This was such an amazing prequel I rolled my eyes when it was first announced bc I was like why. Then I watched it which made me feel disturbed and loved it. The hand coming out of the pregnant woman made my mouth drop. The only things I didn’t like about the movie is the father was the jackal which isn’t fitting in the continuity but oh well , it dragged a little bit at the beginning, and the fact the movie tries to act like the main character being Damian’s mom was this shocking twist when it felt pretty obvious. Other than those things loved this movie sm one of my favorites of the year that surprised me at how good it was. It truly felt like a movie from the 70’s. They weren’t afraid to go there to shock the audiences which I appreciate.

I knew this was going to be a fun reaction because my partner and I recently saw this movie and loved it. What a good piece of horror cinema. The tie-ins to the original material were great, and I'm sure there will be more movies continuing the story--- even if they are "sidebar" tales that happened during Damien's childhood and entrance into maturity. This director and writer and cinematographer were so good! I mean, making the viewer highly unsettled just by showing Margaret's clothes hanging on a wall in the background?? Awesome. When Jerry Goldsmith's music from '76 comes into this film, I got chills. It was perfection to use that theme, a score which won him an Oscar. The choir is so dramatic and sweeping in its power. Ooh, and the first few Latin words we hear translate to "We drink the blood, we eat the body". Jerry wanted to take the Catholic mass and turn it aorund into something unholy. He succeeded, 100%. Here is a video of the theme being performed by an orchestra for Mr. Goldmsith's 80th birthday celebration in 2009: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHmWhpytipaBa6s
