Why the convoluted reference to an alleged illogical hadith of "99 proportions being reserved for the Day of Judgement"? There are those who wrong themselves because they learn much later what their God-given rights or sometimes never before they meet death. Like the newborn child who doesn't know for what sin she was killed. Who bear with oppression and abuse rather than fight against it because they don't know that Allah will support them if they resist or those child soldiers who are indoctrinated to attack and kill because they don't get an opportunity to understand any other mode of survival. It is these people that Allah refers to when he describes as forgiving all (very specifically) unknown sins. I.e the sin of not defending oneself/others against oppression because the person was imprisoned and tortured. The mercy is never for those who knowingly or (those who those who were in a position to learn) commit wrongdoing/sins just through praying! Why ask mercy from Allah when the true muslim would know that Allah would ONLY grant it to them (anyway) IF THEY ACTUALLY WERE deserving of it? Isn't that what 'tawakal ala Allah' means?

Why limit Allah's mercy to your limited understanding, his mercy should not be limited according to our criteria and it shouldn't bother you that his mercy is greater than what we can imagine. It shouldn't sound convoluted to you, instead should give you hope because we are all going to need it.

@@bennyt1020 Surely the purpose of the Qur'an is for you to understand that punishment of evil is in itself an act of mercy for the wronged AND for the order of the Universe because it's Justice has been disrupted? And that the extent of the punishment as described in detail in the Qur'an is not illusory, not 'scare-mongering' but a reality and a measure of the extent of Allah's capacity to provide and establish Justice and thus mercy. It no good depending on concocted, convoluted 'hadith' that don't respect the remit of the Qur'an to imagine that Allah(SWT) is somehow going to forgive limitlessly! That would surely mean Allah would pervertedly pardon those whom Allah categorically says 'WILL enter Hell and WILL abide in Hell forever'! And those for whom punishments are unequivocally expressed in the Qur'an! And the CONSISTENCY AND PRECISION of LAWS of the Universe tell us that Allah does not EVER contradict HIS OWN RULINGS and thus HIS OWN LAWS. We are constant witnesses to the EVIDENCE OF THAT. So, it is entirely UNREASONABLE for us to expect OTHERWISE from Allah(SWT). We are all bound by Allah's eventual inescapable Justice and the informed standards of the Qur'an.

@@brezbrez7845 "concocted and convoluted hadith", again it as if you are scared that God might forgive more then your understanding of Quran allows for. God has set laws and we are supposed to try and acct according to them and trespassing them has consequences but ultimately he is not bound by our understanding of them, rather we'll discover that we have limitations and that includes limitations in understanding his laws and his ultimate mercy. So rather then calling hadith concocted and convoluted, try to understand that our understandings are concocted and convoluted.

@@bennyt1020 I am forced to say- May Allah spare you ! Are you actually trying to make Allah(SWT) take ownership of the 'hadith collections'?! Does that not show your convoluted thinking by relying on hearsay, which much of, invariably becomes concocted? The 'hadiths' have no divine and no rasul-allah authorization/sanction. When Allah states unequivocally about the Qur'an that it 'after this , what hadith will you then believe in?' do you not suppose that there is great risk in relying upon unapproved and unwarranted hadith rumours. Of the hadith even what agrees with the Qur'an may not necessarily actually come from Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) because we have NO INCONTROVERTIBLE EVIDENCE (NOTHING WITH his unique signature for example) that the Prophet gave instruction that his personal sayings/opinions and deeds should/must be transmitted for the benefit of posterity/ for future generations. What is so striking is that not even one of the Rightly Guided Caliphs ever took it upon themselves to undertake such a task which strongly suggests they respected Prophet's naturally inherent concerns that his opinions/instructions should ever be conflated with the Qur'an. And, especially because Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) , quite shockingly, is severely threatened openly and directly by Allah(SWT) Himself in the Qur'an that were he to ever do that(conflate) he would be instantly annihilated by being slaughtered!! (Qur'an: Chapter 69: 45-46). As that didn't evidently happen that proves to the listener/believer that Prophet Muhammad(saw) could not have possibly approved of a 'tradition' of muslims relying on his personal actions/sayings. We are required to APPLY and exercise our Allah-bestowed intelligence so that we may comprehend and abide by the Qur'an. Prophet Muhammad(saw) and his companions could not have understood much of the scientific data presented in the Qur'an, unlike us today, BUT he was able to confidently identify with the sociological and human psychology insights that the Qur'an expounds upon, with his concurrent live experience of Prophethood as well as his past experiences of the society around him. You/us would be limited by your/our willingness to put in the effort(s)- not by the capacity of our brains, which have been purposely created to understand Allah's Message. Otherwise , as Allah says Himself in the absence of that knowledge and understanding humans would have been able to hold Allah(SWT) accountable!

@@brezbrez7845 The greatest risk is in relying in your fency thinking you have a full grasp of the Quran, what you seem to imagine. God's mercy, just like other attributes, are not confined within our little brains and that is the point that shaykh Hamza was making. Shouldn't be to hard to understand but you confuse rigidity of thought with piety as if that will impress God. You seem to doubt hadith and sunnah as sources of guidence and understanding of the Qur'an. If that is the case, to you your way, to me mine.
