"How Many Guns Do You Really Need?" .......... as many as you can afford

….. As an enthusiast and collector, I feel that about half dozen or so of every example produced MIGHT be a sufficient number.. That said, I feel the need for more ammo is a much more necessity than anything… Finally, I feel it’s up to every individual to conclude how many or how much is “enough” for them personally… There should NOT be any limits on ANY of those numbers 😬👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
@willkelly864 ай бұрын
Personally I would include a shotgun on both lists due to the extreme flexibility. I keep a less-than-lethal pyrotechnic round in the tube first since it will scare off just about any predator or aggressor with less of chance of mortally wounding someone (or my dog) by mistake,. In my rural area I keep the remainder of the tube filled with deer slugs (for bears), but when I lived in the city, I kept 2 pheasant loads (to avoid over penetratation), followed by 00 buckshot. In both cases, this automatically provided a good escalation force balancing safety and lethality. A single pump would bypass the pyrotechnic round if I need to go straight to a real cartridge. The extreme flexibility, affordability, and abilty to reload more easily in the event of an ammo shortage makes it indispensable for anyone who wants to include a gun in their preparedness planning, imho

On a more serious note, I've boiled down my "essentials" to a pretty flexible 5 list. An intermediate or full powered rifle, (AR platform or similar.) A 12 or 20 gauge shotgun A duty grade handgun (Glock 19 or similar) An autoloading 22lr rifle A 22lr pistol, preferably a clone of your duty handgun, for both varmint and training. The more "universal" you can make it, that being the more common models you can find the better, so you maximize magazine and replacement part availability. Mossberg 500/590 or Remington 870, Ruger 10/22, AR or AK platforms, Glocks, etc etc. Everyone likes to express themselves, but that comes after your basic utility needs are met.
@TheSquizzlet3 ай бұрын
@@ChadBoss-qr4hl I have a few different 22lr autoloaders and honestly as long as they're taken care of and they're not the absolute cheapest choices ever, they can be relied on. I have a TX22 that I can reliably count on, an aftermarket glock 17 22lr kit I can rely on, a ruger mk 3 that definitely can be relied on... The thing about 22lr being unreliable is similar to the "revolvers are more reliable than autoloaders" thing in that it did used to be true and a lot of people learned it while it was true, and now that technology and manufacturing have improved they're having a hard time unlearning it. One of my go to EDC is a 22lr keltec p17 pistol because its light as a feather and runs when I need it to.
@TheSquizzlet3 ай бұрын
@@ChadBoss-qr4hl To expand on that (as my initial reply was typed on my phone) and also to kind of diverge from the 22lr part in general, the best gun to have is the one that you can shoot accurately and with confidence. You need to be completely sure of yourself and your gun, and the best way to do that is to go with what you know. If you're in a situation where you're being called upon to answer a problem with a gun, you need to have your head in the engagement and be thinking of shot placement, sight alignment, trigger control, collateral targets, etc etc and NOT thinking about "I sure hope the gun works this time". Paul Harrell, may he rest in peace, made a video about the headspace and mentality of defensive shooting and one thing he mentioned was that sometimes arming yourself with a statistically less optimal gun is the right thing to do if it's the gun you know you can operate efficiently. He equated it to driving certain brands of cars, and how no matter how much a brand might have improved or changed, in his head some brands are just garbage and he'll never comfortably rely on them. If you shoot an 8 shot revolver with confidence while the 12 shot autoloader makes you nervous, go with the revolver.

In an urban setting: 1) LCP Max in my pocket with two spare mags in my other pocket. (Everyday, Allday) 2) 9mm pistol (I like the Walther PDP-F, but anything in that G19 size) 3) 300blk pistol (suppressed) - Hits about like a .45apc up close but able to easily get hits on target out to 100yd if needed. In a rural setting: 1) LCP Max in my pocket (Everyday, Allday) 2) Taurus Judge daily on the hip carry (#6, #00,#00,.45LC,.45LC) 3) 12ga shotgun (just due to the sheer versatility) 4) .22LR (Ruger 10-22) - suppressed. 5) 300blk Rifle - suppressed. (can use sub-sonic rounds for ultra quiet or supers for hard hitting work) I think these set-ups would satisfy most folks needs in those particular environments?
@DeezyP2 ай бұрын
Which pocket do you keep the LCP in? I've tried pocket carry before and just couldn't love it.
@44Mag2 ай бұрын
@@DeezyP I carry it in a sticky holster in the front right pocket. The only other thing that goes in that pocket is money. In the other pocket, I carry two spare mags (12 rounders), an aluminum wallet (kind of like a coin purse), keys, and a pocket flashlight clipped to the very rear of the pocket opening. Back left pocket has nothing. Right back pocket is a flipper folder knife. The gun was easy to adapt to. The harder one was the left pocket. One mag slips in to either side of where the wallet sits, and the minimalist keys sits on top of it all. I do not carry anything besides paper money with the gun, since it makes for a harder access. I am retired, so I typically only wear Jeans now. I have found the WalMart Signature Levis Strauss to have fairly durable pockets, with an opening large enough to fit everything and get a pretty quick draw. (I came out of my house one morning recently, and a Pit Bull was in the front yard. He started barking and charging towards me. I had the LCP out before I finished yelling for him to Get Back, Fortunately, he stopped about 8 feet in front of me, so I backed up into the house and called animal control) Prior to this, I had secured a grip several times on it, when a sketch situation was unfolding, but never needed to draw it. I had only dry-practiced with it before then.

I find the question "How many guns do you need" is a very simple question, that can be answered by a very simple math equation. The equation goes as follows: n+1 n in this equation refers to the number of guns you currently own.
