🙋hi from Scotland hi bea and Theo so glad you are going to plant a vegetable 🍆 garden I have an allotment and grow everything if you can get wood chips put them in the bottom of your raised beds they rot down so fast and turn in to wonderful compost and also take up leaves and I the same you are so lucky to have the chickens that's your manure put the scrapings of chicken manure in also you really only need about two feet of soil to grow stuff except carrots good luck with it love your vidios and so glad to see bea feeling better stay safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland

Delighted to see you both back into action in front of the camera. Indeed Bee, chickens are so worth it: eggs, fertiliser and very therapeutic to watch with practically no vet fees. The gardening growing season in Portugal will be so long compared to the British one. Every day, Hubby and I are chuffed at the number of items on our plate we have grown. Nothing quite like it, far superior to shop bought...Live the dream and keep safe despite mischievious Fernando best efforts!

I can't wait to see how your garden grows. I don't know what tie of the day you were filming but it looked like it was very shaded. You will need a bed in full sun for some of the plants. Plan well and ask advice from you other Portugal friends. Start small with basics and add more boxes as you go. Save your chicken poo for fertilizer. Maybe build a dual building for garden on one side and tool storage on the other. The pointing is going to make you place pop. And it will be cleaner in the end. Love that pizza over you have. Yum Can you share your dough recipe??

If you get time, it's a good idea to remove old fallen fruit away from beneath the trees, this lessens infestation of bugs into trees for future crops. Compost, chooks will soon get rid of the old discarded fruit. It's so lovely to see you home appreciating your beautiful property.😁

Kay Lancashire -- yes! it's so important to the health of the trees/plants/veggies to remove dead vegetation.... otherwise bugs will infiltrate....it doesn't take much for bugs to find a tree/veg/plant to infest. 😯😲😵 Also, trim dead branches off tree crops for it's health. Gardening shows talk about this or go online to find the info. I've been gardening for over 8+ years, a newbie by some people's years in gardening but keeping things tidy is so important. You two are rocking it! 👍 Love the kitties....😼😼 Love the property...all those lovely fruit trees established (fig....yum!!) 😎😎

That's what I just had to come in and comment on. I have gardened for decades and the first thing I noticed was how much shade there was in the area where they plan to garden. I will also comment to them directly somehow. As you obviously know, they must get enough hours of full sun and it doesn't look like they get enough of that in that shady area.

It's good to see you both looking so happy and relaxed now you're home again and I love hearing about your plans. Fernando is just a bit crazy like my Sooty was, but I think that's just a young male cat trait. My Sooty is 8 now and has mellowed a bit although he still has his mad moments and he's still a bit of a bully at times to my 14 year old cat Sandy. She can still put him back in his place though even though she's much smaller than him especially when he's trying to hog all of my lap in the evening. I definitely don't need a blanket with those two sitting on on me. 👍❤

Delicious fruit and veggies :D One tip: Always cut on wooden or plastic boards, then the knife will stay sharp longer. Cutting on ceramics, stoneware or glass will cause the edge of the knife to roll over and effectively dull the blade fairly quickly. Keep up the great content!
