Funny you should say that......as you were moving through the video I was thinking how very lucky you are to have Simon working with you. He really is a talented man. When I hear of all the nightmare stories of people with their builders, I think you are very blessed and fortunate. He is talented, hardworking, patient and so very helpful. I'm sure it's probably a pleasure to work with you and Omar but having an honest, hardworking person who shows expertise in so many areas, you are blessed. I just love watching how you're progressing each week, thank you for making these videos and keeping us posted! Your home is beautiful, you are living a dream life. ❤❤❤❤❤

Hi! Mary again, ( upside down pan lid Mary!) Everything is coming along beautifully!!! Please do tell Simon he is a Master at stonework and building! We are very much enjoying watching him as he carefully chooses and places each rock and stone! The black metal will look very beautiful, we say "classy" (elegant?) as window trim next to the stonework! And as you say, will far outlast wood! A veranda out the back will be lovely no matter what flooring you choose! I'm looking forward to seeing! Seeing the whole setup from above shows that when these ancient buildings were first built, they must not have thought that measuring all the distances and angles was very important! But I think it's great that you are following the same layout as you reconstruct the buildings. A little bit wonky, full of personality! Having the separate buildings around the central courtyard has always intrigued me! We don't see that much here in the States. Keep up the good work! Also I just want to thank you for the quality and "clean" contents of your videos, without "shady" and immoral innuendos thrown in! It's so hard to find your quality in the world today, and it's very refreshing, thank you!!!

Greetings from Egypt I wish you a happy life in your beautiful home now and in the future You are doing a beautiful building process, and my greetings to Simon. He is doing a good and excellent job with regard to the old house. I think it is best to demolish it and rebuild it again, as you did with the rest of the rooms, while raising the level of the floor and ceiling of the living room so that it will be as you dream of in the future, as the structure of the house is already old and dilapidated. It is not worth restoring my regards

I would lean towards a dark charcoal rather than a true black for the window frames. the stone has some natural greys so a dark grey won't feel as harsh as a true black would but still give the look I think you are going for. And Simon.. you're awesome!

I've said it before; Simon is an artist (highest compliment in my opinion). Here is a suggestion; I have not seen anyone, in all the house renovation channels based in Portugal, use cork flooring. It lasts forever, softens noise, is warm underfoot, looks great, comes in many shades, is easy to install and grows locally. I have seen it used as insulation, and I assume that bugs don't eat it. The Library of Congress in the US has a cork floor which is over 200 years old. Amazing, considering all the foot traffic over the years. I love every one of your episodes. Greetings from California.

I am a Simon fan. His work is amazing. I lived in a stone house built in 1907 is Simons Town, South Africa. Our home is cool in summer and warm in winter. His work is amazing. The rude question I was thinking was "children's" rooms ? At the end you showed us the House. I love it, I don't need to wish you luck because you have a wonderful work ethic, luck is not needed.

Simon is very talented at many aspects of renovating, including the plumbing, foundations elevations, blockwork, and roofing etc. The talent he has for stonework is exceptional and he deserves much respect and applause. It looks fabulous as does the rest of the work you have all put in on this property. You and your mums work on the land and garden are coming along nicely. Look forward to each new episode to follow your journey. Well Done.

A very good recap Andrea. It is a lot easier now to see yours and Omar's vision of where this all goes. I'll say it once again, Simon is a true craftsman and I hope that we can hire him after we acquire our property next year. We believe that we'll be in the general VNdP area. I do wonder if perhaps you may consider adding a natural insulation element when you pour the cement floor by adding cork granules to the cement mix for the slab or a top lime screed mixed with cork. Regarding your window frames, I've seen some stone houses with black frames and also a grey-brown. I really preferred the grey-brown. But, that's just my taste.

My kids family from the Father's side are living there since birth. Grandparents one is still alive. But they very old and Portuguese traditional people. I am more of a South African Portuguese. But am stuck to my Portuguese ways still taught by my parents. But u young u have many years to enjoy this beautiful place u building to your living conditions. That is so awesome. I started watching your channel about a week ago and trying to catch up on everything you have done. What a team working together, Simon is a magician in what he has done with the stonework, love it. Omar with his woodwork and you assiting where you can, fantastic. Not very often you see a family working together and it is wondeful to see there is still people that can work together as a family. In my opinion I would either go for copper or bronze aluminium frames for the windows, it will blend it much better with the beautiful stonework.
