I remeber this when I was 10 y/o, when I saw that the 33 were ok, I started crying so bad, my school became crazy, everyone screamming and crying of hapiness. I'm chilean, and lemme tell ya'll, those 33 miners are history here, Mario Sepulveda (a.k.a. Super Mario) sometimes is invited to tv shows to this date. I will never forget it, the whole world celebrating that the 33 miners are safe

Years after this I went to the site of the accident at the San José Mine. There is a museum there now, with a lot of information about the rescue effort and the mine itself. It is run by one of the 33 miners, with whom I shook hands. He said that after being rescued, most of them were left in a tight spot (financially speaking).

I remember watching this when i was 7 with my whole family, in a big old TV in the kitchen. Had just watched the actual documentary, seems this video has much information twisted or muddled up. Though this video did mention things the actual documentary did not. Everybody should go watch the actual footage the trapped miners had filmed. The drill bit breaking through for the trapped to see must have been the most amazing sight they had or will ever see. I was only 5 years old when this happend, but somehow I remember this vaguely. I still now my mom said to me ‘the miners are rescued via a small elevator’ while I saw it on tv. I thought something like ‘that must be horrible’ and I went on with my life, but I still thought about it sometimes. It was weird, and now it’s one of my earliest memories And now I’m writing this like anyone cares :)
