The "coolant lines" you were working on around the 14 minute mark look like air con lines, which can be quite high pressure. I think you're going to have an issue with the flexible pipe and hose clamps you've used. Usually whn repairing high pressure air con lines the pipe is usually re-inforced like hydraulic line with crimped hose couplers.
@TheInja8 ай бұрын
I sure hope not 😶
@DazC28 ай бұрын
@@TheInjaAround the 14 minute mark, It looks like you're connecting to the expansion valve for the air con evaporator ( aluminium block to the right of the heater box as you're facing it). I'm a vehicle technician and trained on air conditioning systems in the UK so I recognised the valve as you were bolting the pipes to it. I suggest you find someone who specialises in vehicle air con and ask for their advice so you can rectify it while it's in bits and not fully built up. The high side can hit pressures as high as 350 BAR (5075psi) at the extreme but should hover around 5-10 BAR (72.5 - 145 psi) under notmal operation, which is why most of the air con lines are aluminium and the flexible pipes are re-inforced.
@AaronBonBarron8 ай бұрын
@@TheInja that is definitely an expansion valve for the AC system. The good news is you can buy a kit that lets you attach flexible braided lines directly to the valve with the o-ring bosses, the bad news is those coolant lines are going to either explode or pop off almost immediately when you have the AC system charged.
@belledetector8 ай бұрын
@@AaronBonBarron Thanks for clarifying. I made the suggestion to use flexible braided lines, in the last episode, but without knowing whether the standard cooling lines used would actually hold up. I suspected they wouldn´t!

Nice work but you cannot replace high pressure AC lines with rubber lines, those will leak like hell because pressure. If you do not replace those lines, that car will not have never again working aircon!
@TheInja8 ай бұрын
Didn't realize that's what that is. 😶
@LaitinenVeeti8 ай бұрын
@@TheInja There were 2 normal coolant lines, but 2 other was AC high and low pressure lines. The ac lines connects on the airbox (smaller diameter and small weird looking box on the lines) and coolant lines (bigger ones) to left side of (when looking front to back) airbox straight to the monocock/firewall, going to inside the car.

For all the broken electrical connectors, next time don’t splice, de-pin and just replace with the connectors from the other harness. You have to have a de-pinning tool from repairing the brake module connector. Less potential for future issues.
@12tallod8 ай бұрын
I have a theory, right there at the end, there was a huge power surge caused by all the e-bikes and the e-cart that caused the loss of signal to the camera. They were jealous of all the attention being paid to the red sled and plotted their revenge. Thus we all get to wait....i could be off with this theory, at least we didn't see the big bomb explosion at the end. To quote the old shows, stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel.

I saw a Matt Armstrong video not long ago and he was having ignition problems with his McLaren he was rebuilding. I think when you replace sensors they all have to be programmed through McLaren. He mentioned the car has 2 ecu that communicate in a certain sequence which will require McLaren to recalibrate them plus outdated software may need to be updated. It maybe a possibility you have to take it in to have everything reprogrammed..Best of luck

If you've followed Freddy Tavarish's previous McLaren build and his highly ambitious current P1 build, as well as Mat Armstrong's 720 rebuild, they've uncovered many of the VERY WONKY shit that goes on with McLaren electronics and their components. Mat's had an electronic module in the door that was out of date from the ECU, TCU, and BCU (engine, transmission, and body/security) so they needed to be reset in a particular order to be back in sync, otherwise the car wouldn't start... so yeah... expect to be chasing electronic gremlins every step of the way.

Reading some of the comments and especially ones with some professionals leaving comments about the flex pipes now being used instead of the original aluminium ones, i aaked myself when you decided to do this, why did Mclaren use these aluminium pipes in the first place, a brand that seems to over engineer things by standard, i thought these will either pop off or explode (i really hope not, but the professional guys in the know seem to be really worried) so what do you do now? Try it and hope or do it before? Also whats the life expectancy on these flex tubes being used to full or over capacity on a regular basis?
