I'm blown away (impressed) at how you're able to do do the work on this thing... I'm mechanically inclined and I wouldn't have the first clue how to do this stuff!! Great work!
@patjewers7 ай бұрын
Came to the comments to see if anyone mentioned the oil being “milky” to see if anyone brought up the fact that you might have a bad head gasket. If you’re getting coolant in the oil on a normal car, it’s usually an indication that the car overheated at one point and cooked that gasket . Excessive white smoke is another indicator.. I’m not a mechanic so I hope I’m wrong. Love watching this build
@JF-44447 ай бұрын
That is the first thing I thought when I saw that milky oil coming out. If the car has an oil to water heat exchanger and it got compromised that could also cause the contamination of the oil with coolant. Fingers crossed it's not a head gasket.
@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg7 ай бұрын
He started it up in an past episode and it wasn’t chugging smoke so maybe not. But it was only running a short time so it’s possible the cooling system didn’t pressurize and force itself past the gasket. Or there’s just not enough coolant. Regardless, I have a bad feeling this engine is gonna have to come out.
@TheInja7 ай бұрын
Coolant was all clear when I got the car, and the oil doesn't seem milky, just waaay past service interval. That's the hope at least. 🙌🏽 If the engine comes out, so be it. We'll get it running!
@markblunsum61647 ай бұрын
Really enjoying these videos! Will be interesting to see what the oil analysis is. Not undertaken an oil change where the old oil had that type of consistency but I’ve only owned normal’ cars! 😊
@philtucker12247 ай бұрын
Leaning over so far to reach the engine must be really annoying, I used to work on a Boxster that was similarly restricted. I guess taking the whole rear of the car off first gives you much better access?
@ripn9297077 ай бұрын
Now that youve got that engine cover latch working, now would be a good time to engineer an emergency release. Use either a cable, or an auxiliary wire and switch that you can power up with a jumper box. Cant wait to see this beast running down the street. You've done an excellent job so far, with ine of the most complicated rebuilds a man can take on.

The fact that there's no simple mechanical bypass to get the engine lid open is absolutely batshit insane. Like, come on. I've actually been thinking about getting a 12C but things like this are just nuts even for a quirky exotic car.

I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely bonkers it takes so much work to open a hood. I get its an exotic "super car" but wtf. The engine bay should always be accessible. Would absolutely hate a car like this, but they probably only want there own tech's working on them.
