Oh Yehhhh.....the Stihl 5.4 92cc is about 1/2 the weight of the P 51 and great for limbing cause u can toss it around like a Bowie Knife....Its like an acrobat using a balancing pole, keeping ur balance/footing when working up a Nasty pile of tree limbs... I’m still using my P41 for that Dance..lol.. the bells and whistles on the newer Stihl I can do w/o... 40 yrs on the P41 and it’s 1st ignition replacement.... all stock on ‘em all...I can’t say that about the Stihl though...

Harvey, you look good with a Pioneer chainsaw. Old Dave certainly looks great with the America Dream theme. You should put a nice Red Maple leaf on Buckin' P51, he'd get all getty and kid like over it. Like I do about my Husqvarna chainsaw, lol!

Hi Harvey!!😀😀 I'm kinda the same way about safety glasses. I used the screen on the helmet quite a bit. Then when my eyes got bad enough that I needed regular glasses to see. I only wear them and don't use the screen very much. Sawdust sucks on your glasses so you learn how to keep as sharp a saw as possible at all times to minimize the amount of fine sawdust from flying. Six in a row and ready to tow!!👍👍 Love my Dodge!! 264.000 and still runs like new!! Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al.

Hey ironhorse i just signed up....nice to meet you. Q.....the P51 obviously long out of production, is it generally possible to find parts for these when needed. I have a chance to pick up a P51 but am a little hesitant about the availability of parts out there Thanks for the vids, they are very helpful to an old guy like me. With no mechanical and not much cutting background this new hobby is a lot easier with guys like yourself around. Thumbs up from me

You got that right on the safety glasses!! Get a hard hat with a shield. I love them. Yea they do obstruct the view just a little but it keeps most of the sawdust out of your eyes. The only time ive had a problem with my shield is on windy days and the sawdust swirls up behind the shield.
@davidthorne67964 жыл бұрын
Awesome Harvey! The old screen meshed goggles work fer the fines... I ware regular eye glasses and they are pain enough! LOL! My helmet has the screen mesh visor... I flip it when down wind...👍😁. When I got hit by the widow maker that ripped off the knee and broke the 5 disk... that aluminum helmet was cracked into about three pieces...so I don’t think this plastic one would really fair well in an accident of any magnitude... I can’t put a metal one on my head anymore... and it holds the muffs and visor...??? If it’s your time...it’s your time.... chaps and three wedges and an axe and I’ll keep on truckin’.... God Bless you and yours!!! Dirt Boy Dave over and out!

Great video, enjoyed. My dad and I ran an 041, our first firewood saw. I wear a full clear plastic face shield. Yep it's a pain, fogs up, all that, worst in winter. But I'm still just a firewood cutter, I'd rather take a minute, stop and wipe it than get stuff in my eyes. Not here to argue, everybody finds their own way to work. Congrats on 4000 subscribers!

Still trying to get this years firewood done I am way behind but I will get that CR 480 you and get some pics to you I will try to do it this week, I wanted to get it in the sun so you could see everything. Any thing you want close ups on I can set the camera up to do very tight pics. Freakin winter is here already and I am sure it is colder up there. I have 4 acres but I start order logs and wish I had a tractor to hall wood out. I have to buck it up and throw the rounds in a trailer to much on my back and new hip.

I disagree about the safety gear! You now have a platform to help people, or prevent them from getting hurt worse. I've known men that have lost an eye, due to a chunk of wood. You cant just wear glasses, you need ANSI standard glasses. Wish you all the best! STAY SAFE
