These guys were the absolute masters in their respective genres. Both sadly missed

Yeah man. 2 of the most important musicians in modern history... Both passing away shortly after this performance... Both in their the 70s doing masterful work that would put a lot of young folks to shame

You can tell physically Pavarotti wasn't at his best (I think he died of cancer shortly after this concert) but the effortless delivery from him gives me chills.

Another song from that same concert you ought to check out is Pavarotti and Tracy Chapman singing her hit "Baby Can I Hold You." Gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. By far, my favorite Tracy Chapman song.

Another great collaboration that Pavarotti did on stage once was his rendition of "All For Love" with Bryan Adams. Adams originally recorded the song with Rod Stewart and Sting.

I like these Opera vs Rock mashup-type deals. It really showcases the talent. Pavoratti has done several (Ms Sarejavo with U2, another w/Clapton). Nightwish singer (Floor Jansen) does Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort that is mind-blowing! Thanks Jayy! Happy Thanksgiving!

Might have missed it, but it doesn't look like you have reacted to "Barcelona" by Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe, another mix of voices. Even better, as Freddie wrote the song. There's also "Perhaps Love" by John Denver with Placido Domingo, one of the first cross overs of classical and pop.

This is the English translation of Pavarotti's part: “Man runs after power but He doesn’t know The great limitations he places upon himself [?]In his fist (selfishly) he keeps an idea An idea that is alive Only in his fantasy; (still) he runs… Refrain: And he doesn’t see that All this makes no sense If you live all by yourself” (or only for yourself)
