I've came up with the perfect diy kayak anchor.

I just got the Sunset (red/orange) model. I watched your part 1 & part 2 videos, great ideas and I'll be stealing a couple of your ideas, Thanks! Question: I have a similar anchor already, I saw you demonstrate your anchor breaking the zip tie but not sure why setting it up that way is important? Does that prevent it from getting stuck on the bottom? Rather new and I'd rather learn from others' mistakes and prevent my own.

I am working out of state (live in Michigan and working in Muscle Shoals Alabama) so have no tools with me and have gotten into kayak fishing because of the outstanding fishing opportunities here. Anyways...I need a set of yoour seat risers!!! Can you make that happen?

I dont understand why you tie rope to bottom of anchor instead of the top. I have same anchor but tied at the top. Please explain to me. You did a great job fitting and shaping the wood to fit nice job

The reason you tie to the bottom of the anchor is so that you can easily retrieve the anchor if it gets stuck under water. You basically tie to bottom and run your line the side of the shank. Use a small zip tie to attach the line to top ring of the anchor. Under normal conditions you can use the anchor without issues. However if the anchor gets jammed in a tree branch or something you simply pull hard enough to break the zip tie and pull the anchor up from the bottom of the anchor.

Is that a tm20 transducer ? I got one and can't seem to mount it. Did ya make the holes larger ?
@TheJcdm3273 жыл бұрын
Not sure which transducer it is. It came with the Striker 4 cv. I did use longer screws. It was difficult to install. I used a screw driver that has a 90° angle. Perception in bedded threaded nuts into the hull and added extra thickness to the hull so the screws don't go through.

how big is the transducer "compartment" on this kayak?

What materials did you use for the motor mount? I was thinking of using 3/4" hdpe .. and then you just bolted a 4x4 to the plastic?
@TheJcdm3274 жыл бұрын
I used 3/8" HDPE. I also use a treated 4x4 that I trimmed down to probably 3". The trolling motor mount just fits by 1/4". I then used about 8 stainless wood screws to attach the wood to the HDPE. I also used the HDPE inside the hull.
