I actually agree with Ben. You're supposed to support your partner in public even when he/she is wrong alafu you'll go figure it out later. Don't let them look stupid alone, look stupid together.. That's the whole point of being partners

It’s really the honesty for me. I’m always learning so much in these podcasts. This one was the funniest to me yet. I literally choked on tea laughing at Ben saying english is not so hard for him but inalemea Wanjiru. Wah! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Keep up the amazing work! Ben, if I may offer free unsolicited advice, if after the 2 satos your perspective and answer haven’t changed, please “perspect” until they do.

The compensation is not for giving birth, its for the fact that they stop their life to primarily take care of the child...while yours doesn't stop. I don't think your partner expects a Lamborghini or a big house, because its not a push present. Its acknowledging that them taking on the role of primary care affects other aspects of their life more than it does yours. A good trade off would be, she does the first three months of maternity, then you do the next three months. You sleep with the baby and do the night feeding etc. as the primary parent and even stay home and do parent things while she goes out to work. You do the diaper work, hiring and firing nannies, run the home (plan for meals etc), buy the child clothes and all the things that mums do... Again its perspective

You sum it up very well. No matter how present the husband/partner is, the mental load is ALWAYS heavier on the mom. It can never be 50/50. It's not a competition.

I think the issue is with the wording.. "compensation" makes it seem so materialized. Like you've birthed our child now I have to pay you.. Which honestly you really can't do. The woman obviously will do most of the work but it's not right to now expect to be "compensated" for giving birth. What she needs is support from the partner to ease her load. But It'll never be 50/50.

I'm probably late but better late than never....I've gone through the comments and wow only the "OG joyriders" will understand that we love the rawness...We're all here for the fun and to learn from each other...Ben & Wanjiru are just being authentic just got into a new marriage after being in a relationship so I don't think it's anyone's place to judge them according to this small snippet of their life that they chose to share with us! Let's enjoy content and learn to respect boundaries at the end of the day "you can't assess someone's character based on a KZbin video guys cmon! "

@TheJoyridepod 2 жыл бұрын
We do what works best for each couple. Every partnership is so different from the other and there is no right way or wrong way. We can only share from personal experiences and what works for us, but ultimately what's important is doing what's best for each relationship.
@G_dan
@G_dan 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheJoyridepod on that we agree, but my point of contention is that we are slowly demonizing gender roles. As much as we are working towards gender equality, we honestly need to distinguish the two and appreciate that they can co-exist. Men tend to be interested in things and women tend to interested in people. For example, we have more men than women who are engineers and more women than men who are nurses. Men tend to be providers and protectors and women tend to be nurturers and caretakers. There's nothing wrong with that and it doesn't mean we are not equal.

With you in this point, Dan w. I think there are some wrong ways to split responsibilities, inasmuch as relationship circumstances are different. I think on the whole most relationships are more alike than different.
@WachuiDeborah
@WachuiDeborah 2 жыл бұрын
I'm many households these days women also contribute financially to the household. Gender based roles were there kitambo because women only gave birth and stayed in the house. We are now empowered and get to sit in board rooms as well. So expecting a woman to have a career, contribute to the home financially, birth kids and take care of them and cook all at the same time is a belief that should not serve us anymore in this age. We should learn to evolve with the times not just have that one belief from 1954 and stick with it in 2022. Times are different, households are different
