i never understood the fear of bats. i remember being a little kid and finding a bat on the ground under my families bat box, its wing was pretty messed up and my mom and i nursed it back to health. thing was one of the cutest little things you could imagine

There are reasons to be careful around bats, i listened to a podcast where a person had gone to a bat cave on vacation, was bitten by a bat and turns out it gave them rabies. With an eighteen or something hours flight home, it didn't give them much time to meet the 24 hour dealine of getting a vaccine-like shot to not die. As it went well, I was just facinated by the story, but there's definitely a difference between people going into these things as tourists and doing it prepared :)

Thats not doing critical conservation work my grandparents are doing critical conservation work. They actually are from México.
