@StephenC-d2m17 күн бұрын
@simonoliver8576 Well the Glazers spent £600m backing ETH, Liverpool didn't really back Klopp in his last season and didn't back Slott at all. It was actually reasonable to say they'd be battling for top 4. United sacked a bad manager for another bad manager. Liverpool swapped a good manager for someone who looks like another good manager. That's why we're in 14th and Liverpool are 1st.
@StephenC-d2m17 күн бұрын
@olavjorvik94 How come Nottingham Forrest can invest like £250m and they can rebuild an entire team that competes in Europe with a manager sacked by Spurs. But United spend £600m to get into a relegation battle. Reality is Nuno is better than Ole, ETH, and probably Amorim. But fans will blame everyone else but the coaching staff.

One of the major problems that is starting to emerge is that Amorim (LFC dodged a bullet) plays a style for which the squad is not fit. Members of that squad have huge contracts over long periods. I really want to give this guy time, but alarms bells started ringing for me at Bournemouth. It's very clear that they shut down any attempt we had at playing and controlling the game within 15mins, then they found so many spaces so easily on the ball it was alarming, we then roll up the wolves and they do the same with a lesser squad, at which point you have to look at it. All he wants is a dog that will run, his wing backs are dogs ( you cannot play two defenders there) and his centre mids are dogs, just running around, not good enough I'm afraid. If your playing wing backs your center mids should be on the ball 100 times a game rotating where your attack goes and controlling the game, especially when you've got 3 defenders behind them. It's awful tactics being playing by awful players. You can say back 3 etc, it's not the formation, it's the way he's playing it that's the problem. One to one pressing from your pivot midfielder, really? Bielsa did that 5 yrs ago and got slapped with Leeds every week, wake up

I'm saying this as Newcastle fan but I do think that Martinez could make a decent LWB in Amorims system. Just like Howe converted Joelinton from a forward to a midfielder. Martinez doesn't have the height, physicality or positional awareness to be an EPL central defender in a back 3. But he does have the legs and passing ability to become a decent LWB, if not excellent given enough time.

Amorim is super naive and stubborn, his system and how he wants to play isn’t the best tactical plan for the division he is playing in, at least Erik Ten Hag wasn’t too stubborn and came to a realisation of how the league works. The prem is technical and physical win your 1v1s and your battles and you have a chance, Amorims played a negative 523 which we conceded two from simple crosses, each member of the front 3 was isolated each time they got the ball there was 2/3 or 4 Newcastle players around them, Zirkzee was scapegoated check Amads stats for the first 33 mins it would have been similar to Zirkzee, if we took off Eriksen for Mainoo it would have had the same effect let’s be honest. Ruben’s tactics take a attacking player out of a attacking pocket for united that would help pin back opposition occupy defenders and be support for when a attacking player gets the ball, every time any of our front 3 got the ball he had Tonali and damn near the whole back 4 between them and the next United player. Amorim’s stubbornness might be a problem because he keeps doubling and tripling down on this ‘idea’ he was hired for

People are forgetting, Klopp had similar bad results in his first season, and he had much better quality players. Whats happening is clear. This squad isnt good enough on any level. Hes running the tactics to expose these players arent good enough. United have had managers come in, steady the ship, and its conned everyone into thinking that a few signings, it will be all ok. The process of completely ripping up the squad has been kicked down the road. All the way back to Jose, he was protecting the weaknesses. Klopp did the opposite. He played to the strengths of his players, even if that exposed the weaknesses of other, the result, inconsistency, clear indication of the weaknesses, money to spend to fix those issues. Right now, Mainoo and Yoro for the future, Ugarte and Amad starting, Maguire as a squad player. Those are the only 5 players who should still be United players next season. For years this has been delayed, 4 or 5 different managers players throw together and called a squad, arrogance to think money would just fix it. The longer you delay the pain, the more painful it is. Backing out now, just kicks it a few more years down the road

@@markyNUFC80 I just think they thought the game was won and got sloppy . I was surprised they that Eddie didn’t have a word at half time because I thought our standards had dropped a bit and they need woken back up. I thought he could have changed it a bit earlier and brought Willock on sooner for a bit more energy in the engine room. At least we won and we go to the next one but it’s just those details that if we are going to be a top side whatever that looks like for us things like that need to be cut out

@AllanM2e0 mate I couldn't agree anymore about those fine details. Of we genuinely want to be contenders, then those fine details are what make the differnce. Grinding out 1 nil wins when not playing well, going to town on teams when they are there for the taking, and being absolutely ruthless. I do get your point about the sloppiness after being so dominant and I am absolutely buzzing about our recovery since Brentford. HWTL as ALWAYS 😀

@ oh totally I mean let’s face it to be finding small details like that after going to Man Utd and beating them comfortably while reducing them to only 1 shot on target in 90 minutes shows where we are currently and how far we have come so long may it continue. Tough test at spurs too even though they are in a difficult run of form too. Again no complacency

I miss the kick off streams with laws and the old crew. I watched the kickoff the other day and they barely even talk about football

As a newcastle fan I would take Zirkzee on a cheap loan with option to buy. Howe could turn him into a player.
