$8! Yes, the starter costs the same as buying 2 loaves of bread. Now you can make it for yourself as often as you want! hahaha I love it!

Love this! Delicious things are going to come from Hagar 😃♥ Thanks for sharing! My Mom had a sourdough starter for years, his name was Herman, and he lived in our refrigerator, except around Thanksgiving and Christmas, then he lived on top of the refrigerator. Great memories!

So great seeing the process of getting this starter active and happy. This time around my starter (Hepzebah 2.0) is a much lower volume and I'm not actually discarding...just feeding it then using it then refrigerating and doing it all again in a week. Crossing fingers she stays happy for me!

Plus, the good bacteria in the air differs from region to region. That's what makes sourdough starter so unique.

My sister said it has a lot to do with Atmospheric pressure and Elevation. San Francisco is only around 52 feet above sea level where Detroit is 623 feet above sea level.

If you could it would be interesting to run a DNA test on it to see what exactly is still in it from its original form. That seems like it really worked well. I can’t to vinegar either the apple cider one I tried looked pretty sad. I bet you can’t wait to bake with it, curious to see if you taste a difference. Excellent series and videos.

Hi Heather, Do you think this starter would work if it was used to make gluten free sourdough?

Would you do a sourdough bread making video with starter after the holidays? I would like to see how this works to the end. I appreciate these videos, but a video with you using it to make bread would be appreciated. The last time I tried to make bread with a starter. It was not good. Looking to make a slicing loaf of bread for sandwiches. Thanks.

Absolutely. Check my Bread playlist. I have sourdough videos there 🤗

Oh I can see how hard that is for your hands to stir. 😢
@TheKneadyHomesteader6 күн бұрын
very! but it's ok, I have my hands. How blessed am I? I did order wood stir sticks though, I hope they are a little easier for me. haha

My starter starts out ok, but the second time I use it out of the fridge, it's gloopy, and it's not very bubbly. I think I'm going to order live German Bavarian starter.
@TheKneadyHomesteader6 күн бұрын
Do you let it come to room temp? Do you feed it when you pull it out of the fridge? ❤️
@sarahcontento95165 күн бұрын
I let it sit out on the counter for an hour or so and then feed it.

Do you think this would work with Einkorn flour?
@TheKneadyHomesteader3 күн бұрын

I wonder if anyone else is guilty of using a metal spoon. I didn't know you had to use a spatula or wooden spoon.
@TheKneadyHomesteader6 күн бұрын
yeah, they sell wooden and silicone sourdough stirrers on Amazon! Makes it easy to stir inside of a jar too.
