@nick p that's why i have mentioned only india , as during independence there was no Pakistan , which emerged out of it only on the religious basis ignoring the socio-cultural ties that people shared , i am very sure if plebiscite had happened at that time , people would have voted to remain where they were and no partition would have taken place , but future remained on some politicians and you see what they are still doing for their profits , easy way to distract from real issues . If India (whether be a Hindu majority or Muslim majority acc. to your assumption ) will follow similar thought process like Pakistan then it is open also for risking of misery that Pakistan has today . If religion in reality is a foremost issue than Bangladeshi should have been living as a east Pakistanis .

@@jaihind9194 see, I agree with what you are saying.. There are some reasons due to which an ideology or thought process evolves or changes. Otherwise, when sir syed who once said, India is a beautiful bride and Hindus and Muslims are two eys of it, changed his views and after sometime he was the one who said, Hindus and Muslims are two different nations and cannot live together. Backtracking would lead to no where and how far one can go. Like, reasons behind sir syed views changes was, Arya samaj and its shuddhi movement, and swami dayanand saraswati saying, "Hindustan sirf Hinduon k liye" as early as 1860. Then local government elections propounded by Lord Lytton, made people like sir syed apprehensive about Muslims being reduced to second class citizens as they are lesser in numbers. Now this lead to, formation of Muslim league in 1906-07 and ultimately getting separate electorate. This one apparently sided favour by government towards Muslim lead to apprehensions among hindus and so, Hindu mahasabha came into being in 1915 and ultimately RSS in 1925. This is one of the examples that I quoted which lead to the growing tensions. But the point is how far one can backtrack.. Now even Hindus can say, since there was growth in conversion due to missionary activities by Christians and revivalist Muslim movements like Deoband movement, lead to radical approach by hindu organisations like Arya samaj. So, why I said, it was well researched, because people who are being mentioned here that is Jinnah and Allama iqbal, only contributed to this thing (given prevailing political situation in the country) than to allay such idea like Maulana Azad and Dr zakir Hussain sahab did. Similarly, there were hindu leaders like Savarkar, golwalker who were on the other side of the spectrum, and were speaking for Hindus only rather india as a whole., but at the same time there were hindu leaders like, Gandhiji, Rajendra Prasad who were fighting for a joint India.

The two nation theory that we are talking about here is the one thought by Iqbal and implemented by Jinnah and resulted in blood bath during partition. This theory also permanently damaged the relations between Hindus and Muslims.
