Winsford Cottage Hospital - the challenges of conservation

I was born in this hospital on the 29th September 1944, Mum was evacuated from Surrey to Beaworthy and I was born in the Winsford hospital. A few years ago we were holidaying in Devon and took Mum back to have a look at it. Her opening remark was" it has not changed very much".

Just spent a weekend staying in this lovely building. All the time and effort put into conserving and restoring the original features has been worth it. The result is a warm, calm and welcoming p!ace to stay. Reading the patient's register brings to life the benefit this hospital brought to the community and also beyond in two world wars. I can't wait to return in summer and spend days and evenings lounging on the veranda watching the birdlife or the night sky that this rural part of Devon can show at its best.

I love old buildings especially in the UK! I'm born & raised in San Francisco & have grown up living in Victorian flats so I miss living in those Victorian buildings. Thanks for these videos.

I love leaded windows as well which you don't see really in the States especially the West coast!

A beautiful building - having been in hospital quite a few times I have to say I'd have recovered better mentally if they were as pretty as this!
