Making TULA PINK Bunting, Party Bags and More for The Last Homely House's 7th Birthday!

I can’t believe it has been seven years since I first switched on my old iPad and started chatting to you all - where does the time go? A lot has changed here at The Last Homely House since then and to commemorate the occasion I making a colourful party kit for my youngest Grandchild’s upcoming birthday. Using the MOST colourful Tula Pink fabric, I have made them a kit that they will be able to bring out every year to celebrate their birthdays, filled with bunting and lots of other fun bits and pieces. I also received a very generous gift from the lovely folk at Oliso, of their new pink iron, made in collaboration with Tula Pink! I am thrilled with it. Congratulations! You inspired me to get back to quilting! I was told by a doctor I was becoming paralyzed on my right side close to 30 years ago, when I was in my late twenties. He said there was nothing he could do for me since I risked becoming a paraplegic if they tried to do surgery on me. Told me to go home and hope it progressed so slowly that I wouldn’t become completely paralyzed before I died. I love making things with my hands and quilting was something I really enjoyed doing, although I was just a beginner. It also kept me sane and got me through some very trying times as well. Well, I didn’t give in. I didn’t give up. I found you, I think last year? I started watching you and you inspired me to try quitting again! I made an EPP quilt for myself as my victory project! I am making more quilts for those I hold dear to my heart. Thank you thank you thank you!

I've sewn miles of pennants and attached some as buntings when sewing for a flag company. Some were for boats, parties, weddings, garden club sales, and quilt shows. A couple of tips to make things easier if you make more and I hope you do! Using a wide seam binding attachment will make pressing and sewing things like handles and the bunting strip a breeze. When making 2 sided pennants/bunting triangles adding topstitching will make them lie flatter if there's humidity and sturdier when washing. Fancy stitches, perhaps fish?, adds more whimsy. I love that you mismatched the sides. I have a Pinterest folder of bunting ideas. One lady rescued damaged embroidered linens to make bunting. Another used shirting and denim. I realized I was smiling throughout your video. Your joy is contagious. Thank you very much.

I have been making buntings for years, celebrating birthdays, Christmas, I’ve made them as gifts, welcome home bunting when our daughter returned from living in NYC (yes red, white and blue! ) .
