The Queen of Thorns has arrived! Lady Olenna Tyrell is an amazing character - her savage one liners and withering insults are legendary!!!

Theon: Remember, Robb offered the Ironborn the chance to go home if they surrendered Winterfell... except for Theon. They weren't going to let Theon go. But, the question is... where *did* he end up, since he's clearly not being sent to Robb? Catelyn: Yes, she's going a bit overboard in terms of blaming herself for everything, but let's not forget who started this war by arresting Tyrion on rather flimsy evidence.

It was an unfair fight for Jaime, actually. In the books this is a little bit more explored, but basically he was very tired, hungry, hurt and top of that, with his hands tied up.

Though in the books, Jamie was still a much better fighter than Brienne, and she was barely holding her own in that fight. Here in the show, she defeated him fairly easily, and even dismissively at the end.

Jaime manages to at least wound her and she has to half drown him(though he doesn't yield before they are captured by the Brave Companions(Locke sucks. One of the worst replacements).

Regarding Cat and Jon: it's a bit more explored in the books. This is from book 1 (which corresponds to Season 1), the second Catelyn chapter: "Whoever Jon's mother had been, Ned must have loved her fiercely, for nothing Catelyn said would persuade him to send the boy away. It was the one thing she could never forgive him. She had come to love her husband with all her heart, but she had never found it in her to love Jon. She might have overlooked a dozen bastards for Ned's sake, so long as they were out of sight. Jon was never out of sight, and as he grew, he looked more like Ned than any of the trueborn sons she bore him. Somehow that made it worse." (in the books, Robb, Sansa, Bran, and Rickon all take after Cat, with their coloring and their hair. Only Arya takes after Ned.) And this is from the same chapter: Ned to Catelyn: "Never ask me about Jon. He is my blood and that is all you need to know."

Also the rumors of him being the bastard of Lady Ashara Dayne and Ned frightening her for the first time when she asked him. Ned had such control, no one mentioned Asharas name again...

Book stuff:The Reeds show up in book 2(or should have)and Jojen is the one who sees the vision of Brans "death"and the sea coming to Winterfell. Catelyn freeing Jaime Lannister is originally because she hears of Bran and Rickons deaths, and hearing Tyrion vow to trade her daughter's for Jaime before the court. Tyrion also used a plot to hide several specialists among the Lannister guardsmen to free Jaime(including an actor, a lockpicker and an assassin). The plot fails, but it shows Tyrions devious nature... Brienne is embarrassed of her sex because she's ugly compared to her version here. She insults Jaime as "Kingslayer"on their journey and he calls her "wench" rather than calling each other by name. Yes, Brienne was in love with Renly. Book version wanted to armor him before the battle with Stannis just so she could touch him(which was why she was there just as the shadow killed him). Politically, Robb Starks marriage to Talisa(and her book counterpart, Jeyne Westerling)is a blunder. Talisa doesn't bring any strength to Robb's cause. At least Jeyne of the books(who Robb marries after they slept together when he was grieving over Bran and Rickons "deaths", was done because he took her virginity and he didn't want her dishonoured)brings fifty troops to his side, including a dozen knights. Robb's marriage pact with the Frey's brought him a thousand mounted knights and nearly three thousand foot soldiers. Robb breaking his oath makes him look weak to his Bannermen as well. Book Catelyn hates Jon because he and Arya are the only ones of her children that resemble Ned, and she would have accepted Ned taking care of Jon if he was somewhere else, but Ned took him in as his son for the world to see. Jaime, despite being starved, and weakened, chained at the wrists, he's able to hold his own against Brienne, but realizes she's stronger than him, as she is able to hold out a lot longer, while he is near exhaustion. He manages to cut her leg with his sword, when she near drowns him in the river before they are caught by the Brave Companions. The group of Bolton's men(Brave Companions) are a sellsword company in the books,who initially fought for the Lannisters before they turn their cloaks and join the Bolton's and the Starks.

I don't think Cersei really loves Jamie. Cersei have always loved only herself. Jamie (her twin) and her sons are cared only because she considers them part of herself. Also, Grandma Olenna is the best.

Book version, during her confession to Ned, says she feels "whole"when he's in her, but I agree, she only feels he's an extension of her, the part of Westerosi life she's denied because of her sex.
@Bookq3611 күн бұрын
Cersei's lust for Jaime is a form of narcissism, as they are meant to be mirror images of each other. Jaime genuinely loves Cersei and is faithful to her, whereas she started banging cousin Lancel before word of Jaime's defeat and capture had even reached the capital. In the books, she's also banging the Kettleback brothers and some other members of the Kingsguard to gain their loyalty. She's... quite a piece of work. Regina George medieval style with fewer redeeming qualities. 😒😒

Cat didn't pray for Jon's death! The whole point of the story was that she made a deal with the gods - let Jon live and I'll love him, and get Ned to make him a Stark. Jon lived, but Cat couldn't keep her promise. And now the gods are punishing her.

2:20 Robb said that he was informed that when Roose Bolton's bastard got there, it was already burned with the Greyjoys gone and the people slain. We saw Theon in Winterfell surrounded by men with someone blowing a horn. Something doesn't match up.

I don't understand how anyone could expect Cat to love Jon, not only is he a walking talking reminder that her husband cheated, his existence is literally dangerous to her children and grandchildren. Because Jon has been acknowledged by Ned as his son, Jon or one of his children could make a play for Winterfell, as they'd have just as much of Ned's blood as Cat's children or grandchildren. And Ned raising Jon at Winterfell, making him known to the people, having him trained and educated equally to Robb, only makes it worse. And Ned never acknowledged this danger, only making her resent Jon more, as ignoring Jon's threat to Cat's children makes it seem like Ned either favors him, or loved Jon's mother dearly.

In this time and world this was common. Also you can hate your husband but a child who didn't chose this?
@afry64002 ай бұрын
I can understand not loving Jon but to full on hate him as she did seemed strong considering he was a child. He didn't do anything wrong. Hating him just for existing no matter how he came about just doesn't seem like Catlin. I mean she isn't exactly the soft, lovey kind of woman but she just didn't seem to me like someone who could be a hateful cow to a child either. She doesn't strike me as particularly stupid either. I'd think she'd take it on Ned for a while and eventually work it through.
