I looked around a little and the graphs you can find are horrifying. For French males born 1894 (aged 20 at the start of WWI) only slightly more than 70% lived to see the start of the war, and less than 50% lived to see the end of it. For English males; more people born 1930 lived to be 55 (79.4%), than people born 1905 lived to see 5 (79.2%). If we take US males born 1900; 75% would live to be 21, 50% to be 62 and 25% to be 76. If we compare it to US males born 1981 (like Neistat) then 94% are still alive (42 years old). If we look at the US Social Security Administration's estimates the corresponding numbers will be; 75% will live to be 71, 50% to be 83 and 25% to be 91. Aside from high infant mortality, both world wars and the great depression, you also had fun diseases such as the spanish flu and TBC.

The scary thing about AI, at least to me, is the ability of someone to mass produce malicious and false information, let’s say in the form of fake studies or scientific literature, Vs the amount of time it takes to refute those things and prove them false. It’s very easy to imagine a future where the amount of genuine scientific information people are being shown online is completely eclipsed by mass produced misinfo Edit: I realise no one asked for my opinion

I still have not been truly been amazed by a AI creation on its own merits. It just feels like more noise in the content machine the internet has become. I wonder how long the AI companies can keep the hype/fear up. AI is expensive and I assume the whole AI ecosystem might implode if the money people realize that AI isn't as profitable as they thought. It doesn't even have to be unprofitable, it just has to grow less than expected for all the growth-obsessed parasites to jump ship. I am just hoping it happens sooner rather than later.

A lot of the problems people point out with AI are just extensions of problems that have either existed in the past decade, or the past century. People/companies/institutions have always been capable and willing to lie to you for personal gain, willing to cut out middlemen, creatives, and working class to eek out a profit by exploiting their lack of protections and rights in exchange for lesser quality products, and people have been undervaluing the human element in art and culture in favor a constant content stream since like KZbin, at least. AI is just another tool they have now to help with that but if you weren't already questioning if a video you saw wasn't edited, taken out of context, or reposted from someone else outside the original source, then you were already an idiot and the best thing AI can do is help make you more self-conscious about what you're watching.

That said, kids in schools as much as it's being used a ton, so many are just as bad as their parents or their grandparents, when using a device or complicated software.
