I just LOVE all of these variants of the beloved shag cut... This kitty is SO pretty😊 And, yes, please make that second video... Always looking for ways to 'complete' the backs of these looks. I teach at a hair academy, and I am always looking to other teachers for this, as well as other stuff. I always recommend you and your mate, Paul Watts... Just keep doing your amazing work 🥰👌

Thank you! For keeping up with the trend and sharing. That way I’m up to speed without being in the field as before.

Thank you for this! I came upon this tutorial AFTER I already cut my hair, experimenting with four different methods I found on KZbin starting with a modified butterfly cut using four ponytails instead of two (my hair is down to my waist, so I didn't want to take off the amount of length that would come off with two equal chops). Then I tweaked it with subsequent haircuts over the period of about two weeks, giving time in-between to live in it and see how it moves. Mainly I was trying to get the face frame to be chunky enough in my fine hair to be visible and bouncy without having to cut too deep into the sides and end up with a mullet. In the end, it came out awesome and I'm super happy with it. I'm gonna save this video for next time though so I can do it in one single step!

Hi James! Fabulous! I do get the concept, it's like I learned this in the early 90's but I'm a bit rusty. Could you possibly do this video again, but with the camera from your angle, like the go pro maybe? I'd love to see that.. Love your work ❤

Love this style but I have naturally curly hair ( that I straighten)and you said it wouldn't flow the same😢....great that you mention things like this james because alot of stylists wouldn't.would be great if you could do some cuts that would still be modern on curly hair ....with the menopause my hair as totally changed from thick slightly wavy hair to very thin super curly hair and I really hate it !!.it's all one length to my shoulders and I'm scared to have layers put in in case it makes it look thinner arghhh.anyway nice to see you're back..I used to watch you regularly in lockdown...also I'm liking your shorter haircut😊

I want to thank you for this cut :). I have been watching your videos for years, and have even bleached my level 5A fine thick hair to a 8A without too much issue/breakage/demarcation (my eyes are hazel- and the ash didn’t last long, but it was fun to have for a bit!). I have had the same cut for decades and no stylists here in the states voluntarily recommend new cuts, colors, etc to me. So I tried this at home and it’s stunning, I feel so beautiful. I have very much enjoyed the science behind hair coloring, and your new trends videos. I still go to the salon too. Thank you so much for your videos. Take care!

Love your work. I would like to see a medium length shag with lots of disconnection..I am a hairdresser..age 59 ….so here’s why the disconnection…and I do know how I do them, but I don’t have a KZbin channel for hair…🙂 and don’t want one! Anyway…when someone wants a shag, but to keep length… and we proceed to remove almost all the hair from the front….even if the nape is long…they do not like it…and we as hairdressers always split the back in half and push it over their shoulders to reassure them their hair is long…not good enough! What I propose, and have yet to see done is a cut that starts by establishing the full perimeter…bangs…SIDES kept in tact, and back…now I propose that for the sides…from the round of the head down..leave All one Length, as Everyone’s sides are thin…And only give layered effect from top area behind bangs, it will fall nicely in place …one May gently blend into the sides …back…just do a long layer…finally very top and crown area can even go pretty short for fun Spikey and or voluminous layers…could you show us this? Happy New Year 🙂⭐❤🙏🏼

That doll needs to be like he "fuzzy pumpers barber shop'... so you can feed tea hair back in for the next cut!

If u make ur client nod their head down, while u elevate straight forward, and then cut a diagonal line from bottom to top, you’ll get that feathery effect. When they nod down they are automatically giving u elevation and weight release.

Oh, so my new haircut has a name! I poorly explained to my hairdresser what I wanted and this is what I got. Either she's very good at interpreting what people want and will look good in vs. what us customers say and/or she's onto trends before most of us. I didn't like the new wolf cut and the butterfly cut would've been good if my hair was longer, but this kitty cut is a cut I expect to keep, at least through this year. My hair was cut on 21.12.2023. Trim set for early March, 2024. ETA: I love that there are layers in the back of my cut but without being the visually dominating factor of the cut.

If its pretty much the same cut, then why has the 'name' changed? Just curious...
