They have not found the subject yet. Charging documents do not include her murder, but they do have solid evidence that he was chasing her in a vehicle that night. My family is Native. My cousin went missing and was later found dead in a hot spring. They found alcohol in her system and considered it an open and shut case of an Indian woman getting drunk and then drowning. They overlooked the bruises around her neck or our family begging them to look into her boyfriend, which was the last person she was seen with. And she is just one of many in our family.

Yeah, the whole “daycare” thing is bulls**t. It does kinda suggest a way that the RCMP could have cleared the dude who was fishing for camp workers, though. Dude probably thought that once he had them in the vehicle and on the way, they would shrug off the lie. Instead, they called him out on the bulls**t and made him drop them off at the next gas stop. That would be relatively easy to verify, because someone would have seen them trying to get a ride back. Of course, a *competent* organization that gave a damn about dealing with the situation would have released that information and followed up on it, instead of grabbing a coffee & a couple of sammiches and calling it a day. As much as I distrust the current premiers of Alberta & Saskatchewan, they might have a point about replacing the RCMP with provincial police forces-as long as they aren’t staffed with the same racist ass-hats that we currently have here on the prairies.

My sister was murdered, and our first thought wasn't who did it but were the cops going to do anything about it. We were very fortunate that they got caught within a week or so. Court still took almost 4 years to finish, but there is honestly still a part of me that is amazed that we even got to have a court date. My heart hurts for everyone who has been failed by the RCMP and continues to be failed. I wish it would change

My family and I are from BC and my grandfather worked in the lumber industry for decades there. There's zero chance that childcare was ever present at any logging site. The industry is inherently super dangerous, the last thing you'd ever allow would be kids running around everywhere. This family was kidnapped and disappeared, and, as always, the RCMP didn't do shit. The Highway of Tears is one of the darkest stains in my country's history and I'm glad you're bringing attention to it.

Believe it or not, it was not unheard of. My maternal grandmother grew up on lumber camps in the 40s, though the stories she told, while in her cups, about what happened to her on those sites at the hands of some of the workers were hair-raising to say the least.

I'm so glad these cases are getting mentioned. As a resident of Prince George myself, I really hope for answers for these cases but I know the RCMP doesn't care enough to look into these missing and murdered people. Another case I would love for you guys to look into from my area is the Madison Scott case. She had gone missing during a party years and years and years ago. Her body had recently been found (within the last 3 years) but it seems the cops have yet again dropped the ball. The discovery of her body meant so much to our community but now we are still left with nothing but questions. It would mean so much if you could bring more eyes to this case.

At the settlement I live next to, a woman went missing and their own police department fucked up the investigation so bad that by the time my dad (he was a detective for the county and was not allowed to work the case unless asked to by the settlement police) was allowed to get to it, he didn't even know where to begin. That's been years ago now. But he really tried his best for her before he retired. It's in the hands of the DCI now. This kind of stuff makes me so angry and sad.

Thank you so much for speaking of this! My family is from the stretch of the highway of tears and has been there for a long time. I myself grew up farther north in the peace region of BC. In kindergarten I met my life long best friend who is Inuit and Metis. The indigenous councilor in our school tried to force us to not be friends, saying she couldn't be friends with "white colonials", but our entire class turned into uproar calling the councilor a racist and her ideas of "appropriate" friendships would die with her and the rest of the older generation. I have seen first hand the struggles her and her family have been through, complex would be considered an understatement. I know my generation, while we are only in our twenties, will do everything in our power to make sure all people regardless of status have the same safety and protection. While we do not always see eye to eye, they are our neighbors, friends and family. In a world full of hatred, we choose love ✌️

They can also get their videos age restricted for it which does limit the reach of the video to potential viewers, but it's not that they're trying to seem "suitable for children", it's that it makes it pretty much impossible for the video to reach anyone that isn't already subscribed to them because it won't pop up in searches or as a recommended video regardless of the viewers age and watch history. And having it age restricted automatically demonetizes it too

I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been children allowed at any kind of camp at that time. My MIL spent time at logging camps with her father, but that was in the 30's and 40's. My husband did day projects in similar type camps in the 80s and 90s. He always tried to arrive just before lunch, as the cooks were all Babas, doing a winter job of cooking for some extra money. Every meal was a banquet of all homemade food. I have no idea if this still goes on, as this was a while ago. There were never children, and it would have been dangerous, both from the work and from so many men around. I would guess that's why Ronnie had the intuition this wasn't on the up and up. When people are desperate, they will grab at straws, unfortunately. That predator perp sized up his prey, and chose who he could take. What a horrific case. The way the wilderness is out there, it's going to be an extreme bit of luck for any remains to be found, should they even be in the area.

I don't recall the childs name. But around 1976-77 s nine year old boy went missing. In canada. His mom reported it to the RCMP. They said he probably just ran away. They did not look into it. He was found D a week later. I have a lot of true crime books and watched a lot of true crime programs and documentaries. It seems the RCMP could not find a horse under them. Many law enforcement either in the U.S. or even the UK will not look for missing people. Not in all cases of course. But often it seems to have a similar theme all over. The reasons are ridiculous Children 9-17 probably run aways Working girls -its high danger Adults-they have a right to vanish Families- probably relocated They push it aside Then later state The first 72 hours are crucial.. 🤷‍♀️

I have never heard of a logging camp with a daycare. During the 1980s we used to visit my dad at various logging camps near the Canadian border (on the American side generally) and any children there just ran around the woods. It was fun but there was certainly nothing resembling a daycare. But back in the 1980s in rural areas it was much more normal for even small children to just be allowed to run around unsupervised. Rural kids went to "play group" to have some kind of socialization sometimes, not daycare.

Working with a candidate for BC’s “parliament” and was out talking to voters just around the time this went up. Glad to have this video to enjoy after a long day. 28:05 K so… I grew up in Nazko, a VERY small community not far from Kluskus. I was born in ‘88 so honestly I don’t know anything about this case but what I DO know is this: No, there aren’t “day cares” in logging camps but kluskus ISNT JUST a logging camp. There is a whole community that does in fact have a school, day care, etc. it is possible that when referring to the day care it was implied that the day care in the village would be available. Also. The “Black Water” area that encompasses the area from Burns Lake- Vanderhoof-Prince George down towards Kluskus-Nazko-Baker Creek-Quesnel. It is a VERY large area with MANY ranches. My Dad’s being one. I’m not defending the RCMP by ANY means, they suck especially when it comes to MMIW cases, however to search every ranch in that area would be like finding a razor thin needle in a very large haystack. Regardless, the case is heartbreaking. Thank you for shedding light on it ❤

My friend is Native and she was planning on going to school in Montana first, but her mother begged her so much to not and choose a different school because "they would take her and she didn't want to lose her baby" My friend is not in Montana and decided to stay away from any area near the Highway of Tears or any surrounding areas

That's strange because the closest Montana border crossing to the Western end of the highway of tears is a10.5-hour drive IF the highways are clear and open. The highway of tears is terrifying and horrible but let's not exaggerate and expand fear as it distracts from actually finding answers and closure for the real victims and their survivors.

Growing up in a small town in southern Ontario I never had any experience or real knowledge of the RCMP other than those PSI's or Dudley Do-Right. I live on the east coast and our Rez(es) here is adequate but I see what my brothers and sidters go through from Ontario westward and it is truly needless and unbelievable with the federal government in place that *SHOULD* be solving this issue. Thank you for covering this issue. *If you are looking for another related topic, I think the cluster of cases in Thunder Bay, Ontario of Indigenous kids (particularly those in boarding houses for school) would be important. It is covered by Tanya Talaga's book "Seven Fallen Feathers".* The RCMP tend to dismiss any case of missing Indigenous people with "those people live high risk lifestyles so they must have run off or stayed out drinking" so they barely look. If they do find a body, they instantly dismiss it as accidental even when evidence obviously shows that an accident would be highly unlikely if not impossible.

I love y'all's videos. I don't know how long since I learned about the lore lodge but it has been years. As someone who was raised by a father who was a special forces survivalist, I carried that on and have been an enthusiastic outdoorsman. Listening to these videos has inspired me to become a search and rescue member. Back in the late 1800s and into the 1900s there were logging camps that were so big as to be full company towns, but I don’t know how deep into the 20th century that went. I wasn’t able to find anything concrete so I decided to leave it more open ended.

As a Canadian I can confirm, the RCMP doesn't care about people, but mostly doesn't care about indigenous women. I believe a lot of unsolved missing women cases near the highway were victims of Robert Pickton. My brother lives in Prince George, B.C. and says it is not a great city. Lots of people suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction due to systemic problems that Canada and its government doesn't do enough to help get people out of. It's really sad.

Food for thought: not justifying this but rather shedding some understanding here… many people see the politics of aboriginal peoples one of self-segregation, inflated entitlements of special rights and special privileges that no other Canadians can get, not even combat veterans who bleed for this country. And they can pay less taxes while getting more services for free. Equally is a 2 way street and some non-aboriginal people are fed up with this unconstitutional status quo. Personally, I firmly believe we need to treat others as individuals first and foremost. There are subpar people of all groups, especially my own being Scots-Irish, my people literally invented terrorism. Humans suck in general, but true equality can only be achieved in a society when all are treated equally.

I saw a video somewhere about just such a thing -- a 30-odd-year-old missing persons case was solved when the car was finally found in a lake. No foul play but a tragic accident.

Maybe, but there's plenty of evidence for foul play with many of these cases and negligence throughout the police investigations. The RCMP has a long history of brutalizing Indigenous people in Canada (ie. RCMP assisted Indian Agents during residential schools and the scooping, starlight tours, and shooting deaths of Indigenous people, RCMP members regularly harassing, assaulting and raping Indigenous people). So yes maybe some less nefarious causes could be in some cases but it's far more likely to be much more sinister. Don't forget Robert Pickton, Canada's most prolific serial killer who often targeted Indigenous women was reported to the VPD and RCMP for years and they did nothing which allowed that guy to kill at least 49 people that he confessed to. The RCMP had to settle with the survivors and admit their liability. The RCMP do not care and it's way more likely they're at the very least permitting genocide.

Hey thank you for covering another Canadian case. The highway of tears runs in my province and I have grown up hearing so many stories of missing indigenous folks on that stretch. interestingly enough ,I was watching this video when my father came into the room (also a former mason ) he informed me that as he grew up in that town and area he knew many people with the last name and those who were relatives and friends of that family. He was born a year or so after they went missing so I didn't inquire too much into any information he may have heard. However small towns do talk, and that town and area has had a lot of tragedy with missing people. My father himself has known of a couple women who ended up victims of the highway. Sisters of friends have gone missing when he was just a teen. Growing up around that sort of thing changes a person. I think that's one of the motivations he had for finally leaving as a late teen and later joining the Masons, fundraising for good and being involved in community really helped him. He ended up leaving the Masons and trying out a few of the other branches later on I believe before deciding to do his own thing. I myself as well as my sibling via my father's involvement with masonry later ended up trying out jobs daughters. It's strange to say but you remind me a lot of my father 😅 he is an outdoorsman and built a littl home in the wilderness suited out with solar generators and a fully working hot shower with his bare hands. Sorry for the long comment but I've been a long time viewer and this ep really resonated with me. I really hope you continue sharing stories from this area specifically. Despite the rampant rcmp incompetence and lack of proper investigation. Keep up the amazing work Aiden's !

Ronnie’s incredibly suspicious “in case I don’t come back” comment has always made me seriously suspect his direct involvement in the disappearance of himself and the rest of his family. That’s just not a natural statement that anyone would ever make or even perceive of saying unless the intention all along was not to return. It’s a sad case but I definitely share the RCMP’s incredibly valid suspicion concerning the purported series of events leading up to the eventual disappearance. Considering Ronnie’s incredibly difficult life circumstances and the fact that he may possibly have committed past acts of domestic violence and was actively partaking in clear self destructive behavior at the very time that the events occurred, I don’t think that a family annihilation event with or without a corresponding self termination should surprise anyone familiar with the case. Whether the mysterious lumberjack was directly involved, or just a convenient opportunity is a bit more difficult to determine in a family annihilation scenario.
