I Had to ESCAPE from my Room! A Well Needed Break on our Fiido T1 Pro e-bike! (House Renovation)

The renovation work was getting on top of me - I had to escape for a while! So I took off over the fells on our new Fiido cargo e-bike to soak up the stunning scenery and collect my thoughts. It really helped when I had to return to clear everything out of my room ready for more renovation work.

It feels overwhelming whilst in-process of re-decorating. I renovated my entire two story house myself (had to get my nephews to help with the heavy lifting stuff; I'm a short little old lady). It felt sooooo good when I'd done. Looking around at your own handiwork; knowing you brought to completion your own ideas and did things according to your own tastes and seeing it look GOOD, was so satisfying. It was wonderful to hear others' compliments too, but my own sense of self-satisfaction was the best. I hope you rent a floor sander and re-finish your floors. The colors of green I see you're leaning toward would really look lovely with warm wood tones for floors, door, shutters and skirting boards. You have some enviably lovely furniture too: the scottish dresser, barrister bookshelves, drop-leaf table with barley twist legs. I'm drooling!!! Paring down your furniture so your room isn't overcrowded will give you the feeling you have room to breathe in your room.

Good move Alex, that stunning countryside would revitalize most people. Whilst the Reno work is a grind, in the back of your mind that mysterious little voice we all have will tell you to down tools , leap on your bike and join nature in all it’s glory. We have an Elderberry tree and have found that cuttings strike very well when planted.

It is hard work emptying a room! You did well, can you not hire a sander for the floor? Then treat the flooring? I do love the huge mat, reminds me of when I got my first rental flat! It was a dive, but I stripped it all out, got the walls ready for emulsion, then sanded the floor, but, by hand. I then found a massive Indian rug in and old second hand shop. Ended up my flat became a lovely space to be in. Then my landlord increased my rent…

Your drop leaf barley twist table looks identical to mine. Mine is from 1849 and belonged to my grandparents who retired to Dorset in the 1950's. My Mom brought it to Canada after my Grandparents had both passed...I was born in Canada, my Mom arrived here in 1946 as a warbride. I feel fortunate to have the table, it connects me to my grandparents whom I never met sadly.

Can’t wait to see your bedroom once it’s painted with that beautiful dark green. I once painted my bedroom navy as I was stuck with a pink carpet, I loved it. Slept in an iron and brass bed which we bought from a junk shop for £6 , stripped and repainted . My chest of drawers was my great great grandmother’s. I love using old stuff, who knows what it has witnessed?

I'm working on repainting and redecorating a few rooms at my home as well. It doesn't seem like that much to do on paper...until you actually get started!
