First, all the others are great pep talks that discuss focusing on yourself, and that’s amazing advice and for me through some ugly times. This video on closure, however, is different in that it resonates differently for me, and like the others it’s absolutely accurate. For another point, in my personal life, it’s synchronous, and made me cock my head to the side when I saw its title. My boyfriend gas-lit me, verbally abused me, love bombed, then discarded me in November. We were together two years, or something like that (difficult to know because it was toxic). It is now May. I had zero closure. None. He contacted me yesterday. Our relationship was an unexpected social contract (I’d still love to see a video on this in case I don’t win). He wanted to meet up today, but I’m just shrugging that off. I want to be civil as we have so many mutual friends that were witness to the crazy-making, the holographic nightmare that this relationship was for me. He wants “closure” by an agreement that we tell each other as primary sources (instead of from the gossip train) if we hooked up with anyone, are starting a new relationship, etc. I just laid it out on the phone with him then and there, and am feeling the effects of the “holy crap I just said the truth instead of catered to him.” I told him that I empathize, but cannot sympathize, as I went through that darkness all by myself. Closure certainly comes from within. Don’t go backwards like my ex is doing. He had plenty of time to not be a jerk. If I won, I would utilize our phone time NOT to get him back, but to gain the trust of my community again. He would treat me horribly and then the cognitive dissonance I was trying to understand gave him the pedestal upon which he stood pointing a finger labeling me as crazy. I suggest I was “crazed,” not crazy. The breakup has been one of the greatest growth opportunities of the last 365 days. SECOND PLACE: GALACTAMARX (FREE 30 Minute Coaching!) My favorite video of yours has always been "The One". The idea of being just one person that's meant for you is one that has always been stuck with me by my family and the media. And that same idea was part of the reason why my first break up (which was fairly recent) hurt me so much. Since she was my first relationship, I had so many high hopes and expectations about it, thinking that it would last forever and no matter what happened we would work hard to make it last. She left me with a "it's not you, it's me" a year and a half into it and it devastated me. Especially since two weeks after I would travel far from home to study abroad for the first time ever. Being here in another country, it broke me even more when she told me two months later she was dating someone else. After being so obsessed to the point of it affecting my physical health, my studies, and my overall enjoyment of this time in a foreign land, I stumbled upon your videos about getting your ex back through no contact and self-improvement. And while they were really comforting, I was getting into them with the wrong mindset. My motivation was to get my ex back, when I needed to get MYSELF back. "The One" made me realize the sheer amount of possibilities my life has in terms of relationships and that these difficult times could be crucial to become the best version of myself and to find a person who could appreciate the value I have. I still struggle from time to time, but that video never fails to calm my anxiety about the uncertainty of my future love life.

She also moved to another state to be with this guy. But I am okay now, and you will be too. I've also found a new person that I am extremely excited about and may be a better fit than my long term ex. Things will work out! Trust it!

What if she couldnt deal with the circumstances, what if you didnt have your priorities straight and basically played video games all day instead of doing shit for college and she put up with it for 7 years, she was allready working for 5 years and ready to move out of her parents home 4 years ago, but you held her back for years. Promising you would graduate next year and get your shit together, yet you never did. I understand why she walked out on me and I cant blame her. I also hated myself for being a failure. Yet now I did graduate, I have a job, I went cold turkey on video games and have been hitting the gym everyday. Doing my fair share in the household and I want to buy a house next year. I got my shit together, but to late. I get what you are saying, but in my case I think my ex had a very valid reason to walk out of me, as I was basically a manchild and thus it isnt that I can hold a grudge against her. Actually in some way I can be glad she did, I sure as hell would be gaming right now if she didnt. So no I cant be mad that she walked out on me. It was so difficult for her, she said she still loved me, but didnt see a future with me and didnt trust me anymore to fix things. To many time I promised change that never came. I hurted her deeply and honestly she was right to walk out on me in that moment. I fucked up, simple as it is.

My ex cheated and dumped me after 2 years, I complete erased them. After 4 months and being in the best shape of my life, she came back, saying “I know you and I are meant to be forever” I said “no thanks” I remember thinking my life was over when she dumped me, little did I know after 4 months I’d be the best I had ever been. She proceeded to send me sad songs etc, never gave her attention. She went on to continue dating the guy she cheated on me with, have a nice life! The amazing thing about what Rory teaches is that, once you go no contact and fall in love with yourself and become the best version of you, you will realize you don’t need them and they were not good enough for you. It’s a scary thought now, but stick with it, it’ll be the best thing that ever happened in your life.

Work fiercely on your goals! Heck, that ex that you wanted so bad may come back, but would you want them back by then? P.S for those wondering how they would be able to reach you after blocking them... trust me if somebody wanted to reach you, they’d find a way.

Just asking, I totally agree that the relationship ended and think that they'll never come back, But can I ask.. if you blocked them on everything.. wouldn't it put in the mindset of your ex that you really do not want to hear from them, even if they did miss you, wouldn't some people say No to themselves reaching out if they see they've been blocked? If you did the begging, it's ok don't worry. At the moment of the break up, emotions take over. Do the NC and do not break it, if she loves you and cares about you she will be back. Good luck! 😊

Thanks Rory! The last minute of this video impacted me greatly. I traded in a partner and got my best self! She will be attracted to me now that I’ve gotten to be a better version of myself. She even told me afte the breakup that ‘things don’t happen to us, they happen FOR us’. It didn’t make sense to me at the time but now that I’ve gotten through the pain ( and fought a battle with cancer and won) , I see now 1) why she was right, and 2) why I still love her!

However i started to work on myself again, i lost weight got emotional strong and I'm happier than ever , In a way I'm actually glad he cheated i would of probably still be with him fat and miserable 😖. Giving false hope and manipulation. You speak truth with a certainty. I respect everything you day and can say that it works. Not because she came running back.....because I started to see myself again. A stronger self, a more loving and compassionate self....for myself. If you don't love and respect you? @@danbie86 On about 4 weeks now, it gets easier man. She still hasn't reached out, but I don't feel like I _need_ her anymore, you know? Having her back would be nice, but I'm not even sure how long it would last if we even did get back together. You really need to just focus on yourself. Go to the gym, it really helps. Pick up old or even new hobbies. Spend time with friends, family, and for the love of God, talk. Talk about your emotions and don't be afraid to break down if you need to, it's part of the process that will inevitably need to happen. You don't need another person to be your sole object of happiness. Put that effort that they aren't willing into yourself first before another person.

I use to watch all these videos and did everything. Look my life turned out a lot better since the breakup. I got my money right again, in my relationship everything I made was pleasing someone who wanted to do everything except pitch in for everything . I met my ex at a bar and i feel in love instantly and do damn near everything what a “good bf” should do . Since the breakup I hooked up with a lot of girls and never anticipated how much was really out there and I found out I was happy without her and didn’t have the stress of pleasing someone who didn’t know what she wanted from day to day. Last week I saw her at the same bar we first met. She looked so sad and devastated that no one was giving her and validation or drinks and I had girls constantly coming up to me and talking to me. Jonathan Greene I second this idea - I still question whether they even feel remorse coz it’s clear then dumping you even after all the horrible stuff they did to you means they can sleep soundly at night knowing how they hurt you but being totally ok with it. Meanwhile you the one who can’t sleep at night and going mad from the anxiety. I respect your work, mr Rory, but you aren't critical enough towards your viewers, they need to stop cowering behind "no contact" and do serious work and fight for what they want. They seldom take into account how the one who left feels. Maybe they still love them but are a coward to reach out, or their ego isn't letting them. We are only human, and understanding needs to go both ways. I still miss my ex, and when i heal i will reach out and fight. And i will use my improvement as a weapon.

ok.... my ex just contacted me to find a time to return some items of mine which i never asked for back. (a tv and a small electric amp) I dont really use them and hence dont need them. She wants to come by tonight and drop them off. I have been seeing a therapist about my situation since March. I tell her about the videos I watch and the info I have learned. She says once June comes to break NC and say whats been on my mind instead of dwelling on it because she can see how its affecting me. I been doing the work and have a great social media presence with my project, but inside I think about things daily and let it out to my therapist. I have found out that my ex has been seeing a coworker since around the last time I heard from her in early March. I'm conflicted on what to do. I have been in NC since April 8th (reached out after going NC for a month and was ignored)

Your therapist is giving you bad advice. As the other honest and competent coaches say: No contact means no contact. You reached out once and got ignored. What does that tell you?

Been 4 months for me....after 5 days of her contacting me again after 3 months no contact. Twice in 7 months? She blocked me and ghosted me both times. I noticed she u blocked me on the weekend for 4 days.....I still couldn't see anything in her profile but mine is public. On purpose. Don't play the games. Work on yourself and use whatever you have to for motivation. Eventually? You'll stop doing all these positive things to get them back. You'll be stronger and grounded. Healthier and better all round. You won't need that validation anymore. Feels great. 4 months is nothing. Keep bettering yourself and they'll check in. Seems to be the only time that they do.
