@someyoungguy69903 ай бұрын
Quick hack for the chain hoist. If you take the chain cover off, remove the pulley and make a spacer that fits two locknuts you can run the hoist with a socket on a drill or an air motor if you fit it in the shop. Much better if you use it on a install and don't want chain damage while being quicker and much quieter.

Those can be good drivetrain donors for useful vehicles like older medium duty trucks. They're almost never worth bothering with but their shape is what dreams are made of. Most RV are eventually neglected to death by owners who realize they never needed one.
@LiftArcStudios3 ай бұрын
Yeah we realized the last inspection on that car was 2012. The sad thing about the Magnivan was that until the roof started leaking, the owners really took care of that thing. Minus the water damage the back half is pristine, the fridge, oven, bathroom, all that were spotless.

Um.... Hate to tell you this now but you know that extra hook with the little wheel on it? If you would have hooked that one to your chain then run that hook on the end of the cable back up to the front of the trailer you would have doubled your pulling power of the winch. The same with the come- along. I hope you had a safe trip home. Cheers Terry

Why are you not using a snatch block? It literally doubles the amount of weight your winch can pull and makes things like this so much easier plus you should be using a much largewr winch something around the 6000lb then with the snatch block it would be 12000lb capacituy and yor lifew would have been so much easier for you but that is just my opinion but you got it done so thats all that mattersin at the eend of the day looking forward to seeing what you do with the Magnivan should be an interesting series

After re watching this for your requests for ideas, I was thinking you've probably spent more on transporting it to VA than you paid for what I am now shortening to MGNVN : ie MaGNiVaN. I'm thinking if it can be rehabilitated from being a HazMat situation, it should be quickly powerwashed and then coated with a vinyl wrap for ( waterproofing also..) advertisement purposes so it's costs can be written off later. Then move it outside for the ad aspect to work, with maybe some big arrows on asphalt too, like a frickin cartoon ? Don't waste time working on drivetrain in place, drop it all out for a good cleaning and refurb so you can see if it's got any resale value to offset expenses otherwise... If it doesn't smell too bad, maybe it can be used for social occasions like you're thinking.. but be sure to remove bathroom, or someone WILL use it or maybe at least fill it with storage stuff to block it off ! Maybe your onsite engineer friend could enjoy it as an office space when you're no longer using it for directing traffic to new digs in a year or so ? Another option is fire and rescue training with it, followed by a real on fire demolition for content ?
