Thanks. Lots of features. The success of iMessage depends on how iMessage communicates with non-Apple phones, which is not explained in this video! Must I look for a previous video?
@TheMacWhisperer

Now that Apple supports RCS messaging 📱, which is the standard for Google/Android users 🤖, it has significantly improved non-Apple communication tools. Almost everything we discussed here works perfectly via RCS, with the exceptions of the "send later" function, editing or unsending a message, and the bubble and screen effects. The other tools should work almost flawlessly with non-Apple users, and you shouldn't have to do anything special to make it work. Just make sure you are on the latest operating system (currently 18.2.1) and that inside Settings > Apps > Messages, you have RCS turned on. ✅

When u delete or change a sent msg does the recipient have a record of the old msg at all?
@jesusguerrero6385
@jesusguerrero6385 22 сағат бұрын
From my experience, if u edit a sent message, the recipient can click the blue “Edited” button next to Delivered and the previous version will be revealed above ur edited message. As far as recipients being able to see deleted [Undo Send] messages, as long as they’re running iOS 16 or later, they won’t be able; however, they will receive a notice stating the message was unsent. Note: U only have two minutes to Undo Send, but u have 15 minutes to Edit a message.

Apple intelligence is only available for the iPhone 15 Pro and later. 📱 While your iPhone 12 can run iOS 18, it cannot have all of the Apple intelligence-based features and never will. Sorry, but the processing power necessary for those AI tools requires a more powerful phone than the one you currently have. 💡

Can an iMessage be sent to anyone in your contacts? Do they have to be users of Apple phones or can you send messages to people with other brand phones? I love your highly informative videos!
@TheMacWhisperer
@TheMacWhisperer 2 күн бұрын
That's a great question! 🤔 Technically, you can only send an iMessage to an Apple user. 🍏 However, if the other party has an Android and is on a current operating system, they use something called RCS, which Apple now supports with iOS 18. 📱 That means the vast majority of what you can do via iMessage can also be sent to your non-Apple users. This includes almost everything we talked about, with the exception of bubble and screen effects, send later, and editing or deleting sent messages. ✉️ For the most part, it's a pretty similar experience with all users, but some of those functions work best for Apple users. 🌟

Great tips, thank you! How do you edit the iMessage apps shown when you press the + button?
@TheMacWhisperer
@TheMacWhisperer Күн бұрын
To edit which apps you see in iMessage, there are two ways to do it. 📱 First, go to Settings/Apps/Messages and click on the iMessage Apps section. From there, you can delete or remove any that you don't want to see. 🗑️ Then, the next time you press the plus button ➕, you can press and hold on any of the apps that are shown in order to reorganize them. 🔄

I'm not sure why you're having that issue 🤔. I would take a look at the settings>>Apps>>Messages And make sure that iMessage is properly turned on and connected to your Apple ID 📱. I can't imagine what else would be the issue, but the problem is almost certainly somewhere in the Messages settings 🛠️. Let me know if you can't figure it out, and I'll see if I can help 🤔.

What you didn't mention is which devices and iOS must the receiving person have in order to view each of these features. I recently sent a genmoji to a friend with an Android and it appeared really messed up on their phone. It's pointless knowing all these tricks without also knowing whether the person you're sending it to will be able to view it properly, or at all ... or as a garbled mess ...

I was watching another apple influencer and she was talking about adding stickers. She added a sticker that I don’t have. I asked about it in the comments and she told me just to go to stickers>fitness and I would see that sticker. I don’t have the same stickers in fitness she has. I have the latest phone 16 and updated to the latest IOS. How come we have different stickers that automatically come with the phone or updates? She didn’t understand why I don’t have the same stickers, do you? Thanks.
@TheMacWhisperer
@TheMacWhisperer Күн бұрын
The fitness stickers are created and controlled by the Fitness App. 🏋️‍♂️ The Fitness App can generate new stickers and options as you complete specific fitness goals. 🥇 For example, closing your rings throughout January gives you a specific January sticker. 📅 Chances are she's done more with her Fitness App than you have, resulting in more options. 📈

@ thanks for the explanation but I still wonder if that’s the case. She’s a senior does Apple video explanation for seniors and she had a sticker of a cartoon lady hanging off the side of a cliff (a rock climber.) Now maybe just because she’s a senior doesn’t mean she doesn’t climb rocks but I doubt it. In my fitness stickers I have one of a swimmer and one bike riding which I don’t do neither. So I don’t know.

Very nice … But I turned off AI, really nothing is better than talking real vs a text message. It just doesn’t express or demonstrate character and the 5 senses ..
@TheMacWhisperer
@TheMacWhisperer Сағат бұрын
There is no question that AI has a long way to go before it can communicate things cleanly and clearly. I don't use Apple Intelligence in iMessage for most of my communications, but there are times where I need to craft a response to something (usually tech-related from a client) and AI has been very helpful in filling in those gaps. We are very early in AI development, especially for Apple Intelligence, but keep your eye on this space because it will get better and better dramatically fast, and give us all sorts of new tools that we can't even imagine at this point. Thanks for watching!

I know your statement was meant as a tongue-in-cheek poke at wasting time using things like stickers and bubble effects... 😜 But for me, my usage of iMessage has dramatically simplified my communications with almost everyone in my life. I don't have to struggle through email for hours and hours trying to dodge all of the junk messages. 📧 I can just communicate easily and directly, usually by voice, without having to even grab my phone. 📱 This may seem trivial to some people, but for me, I have hundreds of people I stay in contact with on a regular basis, and this has given me much more time than it's taken away... ⏳ Yes, it is a great time to be alive. 🌟
