I am not an analyst but I guess the gentle breeze of wind after mathan's death gives meaning to the song in the movie: " Kaattil.. Shalabhangal Pole Naam, Madhuram thedi.." . It shows how they both unite their love for each other through the nature. Even though Aparna is not physically present in the scene, in his mind maathan draws her love via the medium of wind. He is able to see her only when nature allows him to. It might seem a bit lunatic, my explanation. But then again, it's all about "Maaya- Nadi" !

Respects your observations, especially Kammattipadam and Mayanadhi scenes. My fav scene recently- Vikramadithyan movie- DQ's return to his loved one's- after beating his own demons. Its a simple shot from Laljose- not so called brilliance- most importantly movies have to touch audience emotions- not necessarily have to be politically correct or brilliant.
