Absolute lifesaver. Thank you so much (not just from me, but from my previously frustrated students!)

Hey, this was an extremely helpful video, thanks a lot! I am currently doing IB psychology HL, and performed a study under replication for my IA. Will it, in this case, have a significance/reduce marks if the Mann Whitney U test contradicts our research hypothesis, and makes me retain the null hypothesis? Since it contradicts the results and conclusion of the study under replication... Thanks in advance!

No, it doesn't matter if the results are statistically significant or not, a long as you do the test properly.

Great video Travis! Though I've tend to suggest my students just state and explain the p value in their statement of significance (ie not the U or critical values). The reason being that they easily understand it (ie relative to the p=0.05 threshold). These have always been fine in moderation ... in your view would some markers penalise student for NOT referencing the U, Z, or critical values?

No, they wouldn't. As long as the conclusion is right. I just like them to show they fully understand how the results show significance (or not as the case may be).

Do the values have to be randomly selected..?

Hi Travis! Using the socialsci stats page can they screenshot that page? Asking becuase it doesn’t show any calculations?
