THE MARTIAL MAN

2 жыл бұрын

In this video, Master Richard Huang introduces the White Crane (Calling Crane) system made famous by the late Grandmaster, Huang Sheng Shyan. I'm currently working closely with Master Richard to produce a comprehensive online training program on Calling Crane Kung fu that will include all of the authentic teachings, including the in-door teachings and internal methods.
The Calling Crane online course will be released on The Martial Man website later this year. Create a free account to ensure you are updated when the course is officially released. themartialman.com
The Martial Man is an exciting new web series following Kieren as he travels the far-east to experience traditional martial arts and learn the secret knowledge of the Grandmasters. The show offers the viewer a unique insight into the martial arts world and a front-row seat to learn directly from the masters.

White Crane is such an important martial art . It preceded Okinawan Karate . It is also one of the five styles that formed Five Ancestors boxing . It may have influenced other styles like Wing Chun , White Eyebrow and Southern Mantis .

Great interview, bravo! Huang Yixiong, the great-nephew of Huang Xingxiang, the founder of Huang Taiji and the former grandmaster of Minghe-quan, explains here his concept of the style. In his explanations, the struggle of two branches of the style, which can be conditionally called "hard" and "soft", is clearly visible. This is a very interesting meaning of an experienced master, from which anyone can learn many valuable points. However, I think that our activity over the past few years is caused by his remark that, he says, "the crane does not walk all tense, holding his arms rigid like this"))) He talks about the Five elements in the Crane - but does not each element require different efforts when working through? To this, I would remind him that the Minghe style was originally created precisely as a combat system and was called "crane" for the similarity of basic principles, - but the system never had the task of "depicting a bird"))) Just as the style never had the task of depicting tai chi. Of course, there are many moments in it that are similar to tai chi - and thanks to them, his great relative Huang Xingxiang so advanced in this kind of kungfu and achieved his success and fame there. Nevertheless, the style is quite self-sufficient and has a lot of its own solutions to go its own way - and offer it to people. There are many different schools of taichi flourishing in the world without it - however, Minghe-quan itself, which gave rise to many styles, has been undeservedly forgotten for many years. Knowledge about it is lost, masters die, and of the remaining few, one master remembers one thing, and the other remembers another. Therefore, today it is necessary not to argue about which of the fragments can replace the whole, but to unite the efforts of all the masters who still remember it in order to restore the style to its former greatness.

I study traditional Chinese martial arts, and I can tell you that this gentleman is the exception. Most traditional martial arts teachers wear not necessarily short pants but long pants that are tight enough to see what the knees are doing. And Chinese martial arts teachers almost universally wear short sleeves. This is just an exception that we are seeing here.

Right from the opening:"people focus too much on stance and physical abilities (external) not enough in the internal work" Not a MA expert but his whole concept is to focus on bridging the external(biomechanics) and the internal(breathing and awareness) to work together against the aggressor. For a modern mind,it sound very counterintuitive not to focus on the biomechanics but anyone who has practiced combat sports knows that gassing up and loosing your mental focus are always the first signs that you are loosing the fight. i.e. when you are getting tired during any physical activity, your chess tightens to get more oxygen, with the consequences that blood and oxygen are brought less efficiently to your whole body, and mental abilities such as focus, reaction time, and body recovery\performance slow down until you can't perform efficiently anymore. In boxing, body shots are a fundamental to wear down your opponent until he opens up to punch to the head. Having a "soft" body, stabilize or increase blood circulation, keeping your body and mind in optimal conditions.

Can you explain please?
@blockmasterscott
@blockmasterscott 2 жыл бұрын
@@naturalman4185 I'd be happy to! You know how most tai chi forms start with the basic stance with the 2 hands going up and down? With a lot of practice, that stance becomes really stable, and with proper breathing you can generate a lot of power on a short range punch. It's really useful if someone that is not a grappler tried to actually grapple with you. Since he doesn't know what he's doing, his midsection might be open and that's where that short range strike comes in. Of course a real grappler would never give you the time, but the technique is really useful against an untrained person. It's really powerful. I've tried it on boxes at a warehouse where I used to work, and the boxes had little indentations from my knuckles. It's very similar to what was being discussed in the video.

A major major problem with ALL Chinese Kung Fu today is the emphasis on hand work, but not footwork. They can't fight in-and-out modern boxing with good footwork and faking. All the theories about blocking and attacking are useless when your footwork is clumsy.

The part where they are "striking" his back was a farce as well. I dont know how people can live with themselves ripping people off for money by giving people training in some cases useless and in other fictional techniques to do what exactly? It's always a demonstration of a technique that starts off in a improbable position without explanation of the end goal. He shows the 2 handed drilling strike but what's the reaction he is looking for from the opponent? Is he trying to knock someone out? Is he trying to scare the opponent away? Is it a buildup to another technique? And even if his demonstrations were real, wouldn't such magical/mystical techniques be the last things for a traditional martial artist to learn? This guy and alot of other "masters" on this channel are suspect for snake oil salespeople. They remind me of the religious people on tv selling you holy water and prayers.

This guy is legit not like a lot of fake ones out there. You can see his form and structure and he emphasizes more on it than strength or brute force that exhaust your energy. TSUN TZU art of war is an amazing book. Ask yourself how these warriors in a real warfare combat was able to disable 1,000 or more troops using weapons or hand to hand combat? If this stuff you say doesn’t work well than how can you explain their survival in a real life and death combat situation? These Chinese martial arts was shared from soldiers and generals in real life combat and there was no cage or rounds. They had to kill or be killed in seconds.

I don't usually reply and can't say for certain on all the stuff that was displayed in this video, but I've personally experienced the pulling motion at the end via someone who has practiced wing chun for a very long time, it's a similar if not the same concept of using a lower centre of gravity and planting feet and hips to take the stance of an opponent, it looks like magic and bullshido until you feel it! This sort of thing could be useful in a stand up trapping / grappling scenario perhaps. I think the idea is to break your opponent's structure so that their attacks and counters are ineffective.
