Excellent review. The James reminds me of the standing collar Bomber jacket from TS. I have the Trucker in coal and it is my favorite jacket. When my Bomber wears out I might try the James. Good stuff

@@garcuca a bomber jacket is something I am lacking in my wardrobe. I had one years ago, but never really wore it and let it go. I might need to try one again.

Great video! Looks like Huckberry is lowering the barrier to entry for their waxed jackets. By the way, your studio looks like a guitar lover’s dream!

@@StrayReviews the James certainly is a great entry level waxed jacket to test the waters. It’s well built, looks good and best of all for a “wet” waxed jacket, it isn’t to “wet” feeling. All for a pretty good price point! The good stuff is inside the case! Couple of vintage guys and my second dream guitar…. My 2003 Alpine White Gibson LP Custom with ebony board ( before Gibson got raided and had all their ebony seized). And of course my all time favorite guitar…. My Taylor 310 CE. Not the highest end guitar, but mad does she feel and play like a dream. Much better than all the other acoustics I played when looking for my dream J45 ( that I never got because the Taylor was that good!).

@@jeffgrantMEDIA The 310 is an excellent guitar. I picked up a J45 Rosewood a few years ago and haven't looked at another acoustic ever since. Sounds amazing!

@ I had my heart set on a J45 or a songwriter deluxe. I must have play dozens of them all over PA and NYC. Then one day I walked into try guitar shop down the steeet from the store I worked at and fell in love. Came back an hour or so later with my Mesa head and traded it in. Only thing that came close was vintage j45 i played down in Philly. That was awesome. But like 7K 14 years ago. I would trade my D28 for a J45 though….

@ me too. Even before kids and a mortgage that was too rich for my blood. My high was about 4K for my 78’ Gibson LP Deluxe. And that was after tax and shipping.

I bought both on Black Friday to try out and the James doesn't even fit, but I love the Waxed Trucker. I guess I'm a boxier fit, like you said.

@@patricklinkous I dig both jackets. But I love the waxed trucker. Top 5 all the way.

I like the new James jacket better. More urban. More minimal. My problem is that I hate jackets with snaps. For now, the Trucker jacket is better but I might prefer the Thursday Field jacket. I have yet to try them both. Miss Hazel, which of these two jackets to you prefer, the Flint and Tinder Trucker of the Thursday Field? I trust your taste. You've got great style.

@@davidhunternyc1 I will certainly ask her opinion in the morning when I get back home form this work trip. I am very curious to see which one she chooses. She had great taste!

I really wish I could see the James in the tan color wave. All the reviews seem to be in coal and I just definitely would not get that color. My usual jacket size is large due to my wide shoulders. Should I go for XL with the James so I can layer if needed?
@jeffgrantMEDIA2 ай бұрын
@@tempestandacomputer6951 the James is a little slimmer intensity than the waxed trucker. I did just get a new waxed trucker in a medium and had to send it back for a large, due to me “growing” a bit this winter. If you are not in the edge of a large, I think you will be fine with the large and not need to size up.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA Does the James have a heavy duty feel like the others? It looks a little flimsy in the video
@jeffgrantMEDIA2 ай бұрын
@ the James is and 11.9oz canvas as apposed to the 7oz of the waxed trucker. But the thinner cotton liner in the body and Polly sleeves of the James gives the jacket a less structured look than than of the waxed trucker with the heavier fully flannel lining. It is a bit of a slimmer cut, but the liner makes all the difference and how structured the jacket looks.

What would you like to know?
@USDAselectАй бұрын
@jeffgrantMEDIA The waxed trucker in medium and the James in large look about the same size 🤔. Do they fit you body the same?
@jeffgrantMEDIAАй бұрын
@ after this video I did get a new waxed trucker. That was aa size medium and I had to send it back for a large. That large new large waxed trucker fits more like this old medium. Now there are two reasons for this, A) I have certainly gained some weight since getting my OG jacket B) my old one has relaxed and stretched a bit since I have gotten it. C) they have slightly modified the jacket (lined pockets now) so they may have re-done the measurements. I would say the size large in the current waxed trucker fits likely the size large in the James.
@USDAselectАй бұрын
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Thanks man for clearing that up and the replies. I think I'll be going for the trucker in large. I like the look of the James more but I wish it was lined with warmer fabric.
