At the end it really is.. These "tricks" may work only if you compete against total amateur. Every pro armwrestler understands techniques well enough. If the whole arm is only 5-10% stronger you are not able to move it a single cm! Felt and seen that thousands of times.

It is about who is the strongest, and most durable. Devon is not the strongest guy at the table, but he is the most durable. He can lose 1-2 rounds straight, but after that youre so bled out Devon is gonna beat you 10-2.

His strength comes not just from his form and reach but from his mental toughness (he was Canadian Special Forces after all, they can shoot a syrup jar off of a post from super far away and all that good stuff).
