Seriously, the most underrated band in history. Even as big as they were, they deserved to be bigger.
@lucalone Жыл бұрын
@@whiteninja9481 The USA. They only know "Jailbreak" there ', which was hit. Thin Lizzy like Rainbow are terribly underrated in the USA.
@Callipygous1975 Жыл бұрын
@@whiteninja9481 I am with you. "Underrated" has become a KZbin cliche.
@Downhuman74 Жыл бұрын
@@whiteninja9481 Here in the States, Thin Lizzy were basically a one-hit wonder (or two-hits, as it were). They're only known for Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town. And to this day, that's the only two songs you'll hear get played on the radio. As I understand it, they enjoyed a bigger reputation outside of the US but still not as big as they deserved. I think they should have enjoyed success on the level of Zeppelin or Sabbath. Their output is massive and varied...and of high quality. And the scope of their influence easily puts them with the top bands of that era (you can't hear a twin lead and not give thanks to TL.) But yet, they're rarely mentioned when talking about those same bands. That's what I mean about underrated. UFO is another band that's massively underrated and in much the same way. They're massively influential but rarely get mentioned alongside the bands they influenced.

@@Downhuman74classic rock station in my hometown thankfully included Cowboy Song and Whiskey in the Jar in their repertoire
@Downhuman74 Жыл бұрын
@@ethanreed8400 That's awesome. Stations where I grew up only knew about "Boys" so it was a while before we even got Jailbreak. But, man, every station should be playing the four we've mentioned plus -- Rosalie, Bad Reputation, Do Anything You Want, Massacre, Waiting for An Alibi. And I don't know how in the hell Dancing in the Moonlight didn't just explode on the charts -- that song had massive mainstream appeal.

I loved Gary Moore and all of his blues! I had no clue he had been in Thin Lizzy until A friend told me years ago. I knew I had seen Thin Lizzy on TMS years before this and didn't see Gary with them. Rest in Peace Gary, your Midnight Blues is my favorite. Rest in Peace Phil also. You were one of a kind and so talented.
