The Arizona has fascinated me for decades. Every since my mother told me that my grandfather was a gunner on a Navy destroyer at Pearl when it was bombed. They were all up because they had been alerted that the Ward had shot and possibly sunk a Japanese mini-sub trying to get into the harbor. Everyone else was still asleep. Not only was my grandfather a gunner, but was also a firefighter on board ship, but that day he was putting them out everywhere. Another reason is my family has deep roots here in Arizona. I was born and raised here, moved all over the place, but I always come back home. Who doesn't know or like the Missouri. She was built to avenge Pearl Harbor and in particular to avenge the Arizona. I have pictures of them both. The missouri now stands guard over the sailors and the Arizona. Her guns pointed over her like a shield. She Avenged the Arizona alright. She had the Uncondutional Surrender signed on her decks! Thank you!

There is one thing you can do for your windows that a lot of model cars builders do to make it crystal clear. Dip the window into Pledge floor care finish and gently remove any excess. When dry is very clear and you can also use it as a clear cement. I do for head and tail lights on model cars.

I enjoyed seeing the models. I built the 1/350 scale Missouri last year, the Tamiya kit . I like the shape of the IOWA class, especially that of war time. The reason I bought the kit was inexpensive and there is no more production of the kit at present. I realized I didn't use very small-sized lines between many structures on the ship. Some day I'll put lines on the structures again. The class is very beautiful to see. I remember building a wooden-made Missouri when I was a junior high school boy. It moved on the water by the small motor . That was one of the happiest experiences at that time. I would like to watch your Missouri many times again for future reference to build war ships. Than you.

Trumpeter makes very good WW2 ship kits and these are quite impressive. I once built a 1/350 scale Trumpeter USS Saratoga CV-3 when I lived in Prescott and I donated it for display at the Veterans Domiciliary at the VA hospital there, where I believe that it still resides, but am not sure. That was the first model kit I'd built since I was a kid and with spray cans, bottled paint and some ill fitting part modifications, I was quite impressed with how it turned out. Currently I live here in Tucson, AZ where there is a memorial for USS Arizona at the U of A Mall, that ultimately depicts the deck outline of the ship to reveal the overall size of the vessel. These are really impressive kits and well done by you in documenting and completing your builds. It would be neat if someone were to come up with some kind of resin personnel set that depicted the actual surrender ceremony held aboard the Missouri back in 1945. That would be a great addition to this very nice kit. Thanks for sharing your work.

Ever thought of making a WW2 submarine? With cutouts of the hull on one side to see the interior compartments? Maybe a 1/48 or something like it... You could even push it forward and install onboard lights to illuminate the interior.

They look fantastic side-by-side Ben. The display cases are going to make them look like museum exhibits; the quality is certainly high enough. You're not going to want to hear this 𝒃𝒖𝒕, having the crew on the Arizona makes a huge difference, IMHO anyway. I really think it would be worth the effort to add some life to the Missouri. Just a thought for the Titanic: start painting passengers and crew right at the start of the build. Even if you did just half a dozen figures a week, that's over 300 after a year's work - a good start.😁 I'm guessing you're going to need a big bottle of "canopy glue"; there's going to be a porthole or two.😁 Looking forward to you making a start on it. Cheers for now, Dougie.

G'day MMS, Outstanding work! Twice! So, like me, you're mainly a military aircraft modeller. Well, this old modeller loves a challenge but there's no way I'd tackle huge, full hull ships like these. Apart from the fact they are both way bigger than my modelling bench, there is just too much intricate, fiddly detail for me. Usually, by the time I finish a complex cockpit and landing gear set, I'm done for. But I so much admire you fantastic work. I'm going to do my first model boat soon. I'm doing a multiple build tribute to the RAAF, which turns 100 in March of this year. A few of us ex-RAAF blokes are doing aircraft that we worked on or flew on during our service. It amounts to about 40 aircraft. But because the Australian air force is not all about aircraft, we're doing one of their WW2 Rescue Boats; a RAAF ambulance; a RAAF Panther Fire and Rescue truck and even a RAAF APC that was used in Vietnam. When that's all done I've decided to do that Revell 'see-through' Type XXI submarine with the clear panels on one side. Much better than a standard sub model which are pretty ordinary; usually just black 'cigar tubes' with fins etc.' I really take my hat off to an aircraft modeller that turns out excellent large, full hull warships like yours. Thanks for the interesting video! Cheers, BH P.S. The RAAF is only the second stand-alone air force in the world, after Britain's RAF, which was formed in 1918.
