We have 6 and 8 year old boys…plus my husband 😂🤣😉 and pillows…the struggle is real my friend!!! 💗 I’ve converted to pillow covers instead that I can change throughout seasons and it’s saved my sanity. 🎉 I still have the “no white pillows for forts or the floor” policy though.😉💗

The O Cedar mop you showed is the best mop I've ever used...and I've used a lot of them over the years (75 years old and married 56 years). You never have to wring it out by hand, gets in the corners and under cabinets, the mop head pops off and goes in the washer and bucket is easy to carry around. Two thumbs up! 👍👍🙂

I love the concept that keeping an item will not put money back into our pockets. I also remember you saying once that we made purchases with the knowledge that we had at the time, so that has helped me out a LOT. I realize now that I didn't buy the item with the intention of wasting money.

The Simple Human liquid containers are great. I have owned them for 10 yrs. You do need to let it cure for 24 hrs. I made the mistake of rushing and I woke up to a hot mess of spilled shampoo and a broken container. It is strong as sometimes I just leave the original bottle to refill and let it sit. The silicon glue wont leave markings and easy to replace (just buy more silicon glue from Home Depot) if you need to reposition. Use razor to remove. There are cheaper brands that work well too from Home Depot but they don’t look as great. This type of container can leak if you put something too watery or clogged if something too thick. However, I put lotion and shaving cream and they work great. They do turn green overtime, which I am not sure why but doesnt deter function. They dont rust though. Highly recommend Simple Human brand or other ones.

Proud of you Dawn. Thanks for helping others. I was 38 ,wife and mother of two sons and decided to begin college at local Community college, to become a teacher. We juggled everything because my husband travelled often. We never had a clear flat surface, the couch sometimes had clean laundry to fold. House was never company ready. On the weekends we just slaved away in between soccer, basketball, etc. We just stashed in baskets when company was company. We have a huge bunch of relatives and friends. We both mostly exhausted. We lived that way for years. Received my degree and a position and hired a cleaner every two weeks. It helped but we had to clean before she came. We were not organized. NOW I am 73, retired and have decluttered and we have all kinds of clean space. Never too old to learn. I even fold my clothes like Marie Kondo now.

Thanks so much for your candor and honesty. You make yourself vulnerable for us and it's wonderful to listen to you as you meet the challenges of family life. I have a friend who uses the phrase "surrendering to motherhood". I'm kind of a neat person naturally so it was difficult for me, and honestly, I think it's difficult for most people. My family used my pillows for everything from forts to naps. They had to be sort and cozy (read that as not too decorative!) I sort of envied the ladies with the "perfect" front rooms, but then I realized that my home was for living...it's not a magazine. Pillows can be replaced - the memories made are much more important. You won't remember the pillows but you will remember the forts and the fun!! :)

Here’s a thought about the pillows 😂 Buy pillow inserts with down feather, they are easy to put back nice, compared to the fake stuff where it deforms and looks weird. Buy pillow covers ( better yet, if you sew, then but in zippers) and then it doesn’t take up any extra room to store the “out of season ones” I do not have any extra pillow covers because I like using mine all through the year , the key is to buy ones that can go through any season. My kids use my pillows and I just wash them. I have four kids, and I have nice pillows, they build pillow forts and all the things. I do have a rule to not step on them, my house is more minimal so it’s not an impossible task to keep it tidy or clean, and washing them isn’t a difficult task. I follow a schedule similar to Dawn’s, I do a load a day, and I rotate through sheets, towels, and pillows, blankets. Hope that helps, anyone wanting pillows but not wanting to keep pillows in a closet for guests! or just ignore this and do what you want! 🎉

The other thing to do with multiple cleaning supplies (depending on what kind I guess) is to keep one in each bathroom and kitchen or wherever it's used. I learned from Flylady to keep the supplies to quick clean each bathroom there in the bathroom so I wouldn't have to go hunt them down (that extra step providing an excuse not to clean OR resulted in getting side tracked along the way).

My secret to the pillow situation is to get feathered pillows. I always see them at goodwill for $2 dollars a piece. They work great for squishing and hard abuse lol (I have five kids). For holidays and other occasions you just swap out the covers and you always have a fluffy perfect looking pillow without spending more each time you want something new. The covers are also great to wash if they do get dirty and they are cheap enough to swap out often. I have the same set of pillows for fall, Christmas, spring, summer and even a few extra colors I rotate throughout the year lol all with the same few pillows just different covers. Anyway thanks so much for what you do. You have seriously changed my world and I’ll be forever grateful! Blessings!

My dining room table is the center of everything in my home. I have to move clutter off of it every day. That’s okay. When it bothers me I put everything away. Fall is here in Kansas. The flowers are done. The tree outside my window was absolutely gorgeous last week and now most of the leaves have fallen off. This is when I get blue. So I cure that by decluttering. It makes me feel better and I am happy when the stuff is out of my home. Thank you for a great video.

I decluttered cleaning products years ago and only use water to wipe things. For grease a little dish soap. If I'm feeling extra peppy I'll use water with essential oils in it. For the floors I vacuum then steam mop with the Bissell power fresh, which is not bulky or hard to maneuver at all. If I need to kill germs on a flat surface I have a spray bottle each of alcohol and peroxide. I save lots of money and avoid toxic chemicals this way. It's a win-win 🙌🏻🙌🏻

My family (all adults) all prefer different shower products so we do have quite a few bottles around. I’m never a fan of decanting stuff due to wasting stuff that gets left in the old container/ spilt down the side/ doesn’t fit. Same in the kitchen. It doesn’t make for a pretty pantry but I just keep pasta, flour etc in it’s original bag and reseal the top with a clip. I’ve got the expiration date , cooking time and usually a recipe suggestion right there on the pack. No need to guess what it is and how long it’s been there.

I love your approach to cleaning. I am actually going to get up and clean. Thanks for the motivation! I use the Norwex EnviroCloth for any greasy areas in the kitchen. No sprays, just water. In fact, one of the best demos I do with the EnviroCloth is to rub butter on a surface and wipe it off with one wipe of the wet EnviroCloth. I then use my finger to show that it is squeaky clean. Try your cloths and see if that works. Best solution for grease! I love my Norwex mop, too! You don't have to remove the pad that often. I can do half of my 1600 sq. ft. home without removing the pad. About half of my house is vinyl plank. I just carry a squirt bottle on my back pocket and just squirt a 3' by 3' area or so, mop, then squirt water on the next section and continue. So easy and fast! Then I remove the pad and rinse it out. I use a different Norwex mop pad with scrubby strips for the other half of my floors which are tile.

I love the pink stuff the cream one I tried that my mom loved it as well I bought it for her. I use some other more natural cleaners. I love my mop I have the same one as you do and it works really well. I love that you don't have to squeeze the mop head I have tried some other brands of washable mop heads and I like the easiness of the O cedar. The mop heads last a long time. I am actually going on a women's retreat I was gifted. I remember the first time I went on a church women's Retreat many years ago how I cried I had never been away from my children except to have a baby. I have been away from my children many times but not a retreat. So for a couple days I will be able to fellowship with other women which is amazing. I don't know anybody at this retreat but maybe one person so I'm really stretching myself. But it looks like it's a beautiful weekend and we have to enjoy the good days while we have them here in Minnesota. Yesterday I got some supplies to be able to get some projects done in my home eventually so that's a good thing. My goal is to work hard at those projects so I am not rushed when it comes Thanksgiving. Even though I don't know where Thanksgiving is going to be this year it doesn't mean that my home can't be in order better. Today I took some moments and cleaned and I'm doing laundry. I want to be caught up in those things so when I come back from The Retreat I feel like I have a fresh start to the week. Also next week I am going to some medical appointments that I've been pushing off

I'm not all that impressed with "The Pink Stuff", I tried it on my stove and my kitchen sink and it didn't work any better than my baking soda and water paste.

I love my O’Cedar mop! It is easy to use and I like being able to spin the water out for a true “damp” mop job. It is easy to clean and being able to wash the mop head is a bonus. It is the best mop I have ever used!

So nice to see Tom 😊 I have the O Cedar Mop and LOVE IT!! I am done cleaning floors on my hands and knees. Love your videos. I rewatch them often. One for motivation and two for reference tips and resources.

Hi, I havent read the rest of the comments but let me tell you a pillow trick(that I learned from my decorator friend, thanks Amy!). Listen, we have 9 children. My pillows were always looking like crap. I got the faux down pillow inserts from pottery barn. I switch out the covers based on the season. They can get smashed down, but with a little fluffing they look brand new again. I have had the same inserts for probably 7 years and just replaced them last year. Its a little spendy on the front end but so worth it! I'm sure that most of your veiwers feel like I do, like we could be friends in real life! Thank you for being so relatable. Also, I loved your video on visiting the Ozarks, thats my neck of the woods!

Dawn, I know you love dishes;) I’m with you… hate them. What dawned on me this morning… lol… is that I use the sinks as the “container” theory, I always have, there’s never more dishes than sink space. Thought you might enjoy that thought;) Can’t wait to watch this!🥰

For families with lots of hair (human or otherwise) or lots of tracked in dirt (which dirties the water quickly) I’d 💯 % suggest the X3 mop! It’s about half the size of the OCedar, has three separate chambers for water, a comes with multiple microfiber mop heads. Really well made, it has lasted us for years! It’s like swifter with out all the chemicals!

I love my steam mop. Once I used one, I’ll never go back. The steam just makes everything come off the floor easy. I just pour water in when needed. The pads are reusable and washable. It’s not that heavy or bulky to me; much lighter and smaller than a vacuum. 17 years ago I used a mop and bucket starting out. To me it was so much work. I think the spin thing on the o’cedar one looks cool, but it still looked like way more work dumping out all the water and stepping than what I have to do just switching out a pad or adding a little amount of water. It’s whatever makes you happy though and can get the job done. Before I hated to mop, but now I don’t mind really. It’s kinda fun and rewarding till someone walks across the floor later ☺️. I’m glad you like yours Dawn! Thanks for always sharing!

Hi Dawn, I love your videos! I just installed the simple human dispenser on my shower last week, love it! If it falls off get some locktite construction adhesive to restick it to the wall. Also it looks like you have a nice quality dishwasher with a stainless steel drum, if you have a good dishwasher there is no need to pre-wash your dishes in the sink, just scrape off any solid food and then pop it in the dishwasher, such a time saver!

The shampoo dispenser you installed is great. We put one up when we had our bathroom renovation done 6 years ago and it is still looking like new and working fine.

I love our OCedar mop. I have an extra mop head that I swap out and use to clean our tubs/showers. It helps save my back. 🙂

How do you dry your mop head? Do you put it in the dryer??
@crystalgregory57012 жыл бұрын
@@cmyoutube4 I wash the head in the washing machine and then I hang it to dry on a hook on my shower curtain rod. If it's a nice day out, I will hang it outside to dry. Make sure you don't use any fabric softener when you wash it. 🙂

I love, love my O’Cedar spin mop, worth every penny! I even “mop” my hardwood floors with it since I can get the mop head so dry.

That is good to know…. We just bought our first house and I was trying to decide if I should get a steam mop for all the hard wood laminate flooring, I found the box in the basement with some spare planks inside and I read the care instructions and I am so glad I didn’t buy one! It said not to use one and to damp mop without harsh cleaners! I was surprised to find out Water is the enemy of this floor! I think I will be buying an O cedar now!😊 thanks for the comment!

Too late now, but install shower dispensers in larger bath size showers on opposite wall of shower nozzle. They stay drier. easier to step forward and dispense rather than turn around and water sprays all over it. Just helpful hint.

I don't have a dispenser but for me I think up under the shower head would be easier because my family members tend to stand in the middle or the back of the tub to scrub up and rinse off.

I have the Simple Human shampoo/soap dispenser and it is so convenient! We used screws to attach it in our tiled shower on the wall opposite the shower head. So easy to clean the tub/shower without all the bottles sitting around. You can even hang a razor on it and scrubby or washcloth.

I'm going to echo everyone else and say thank you so much for all the amazing content you deliver!! The part about feeling bad about yourself with maintaining the house and being a mom and focusing on work instead spoke to my heart in a way I cant even describe!! That's exactly how I have been feeling and I have been in such a state of I want to just move and get a more functional house. Watching your videos make me feel grateful for what I have and a reminder to do things to fall in love with my house/space again. It's been a hard few months but today we cleaned out the garage and that was a step in the right direction. Again just thank you so much for being relatable and explaining things in a kind and easy manner. Your words inspire me to live a better life!!❤❤

I got the pink stuff at a local bargain store. Yes, it works. I would probably never had tryed it, because to me it is expensive. The extra degreser in the laundry room is perfect there, so if you need to spot clean something before putting it in the washer. I work great for cleaning shoes too.

My family also have a knack for killing cushions (throw pillows) so now I buy ones with removable covers / just buy covers, so that I can undo them, re-fluff the filling pad as needed and spot clean them easier 😊 Hope that helps 💗 Another lovely video, thank you x

My SIL taught me a little system. We use a bath towel under our dish drainer. At the end of the day, put the dishes away, sweep the floor, then take the wet towel, use it to clean the kitchen floor, and replace it with new one.

Im not normally influenced by people for vacuums BUT I had a mom friend that said I needed a shark vacmop. I seriously waited almost a year from that but I finally jumped on the bandwagon. The main reason I went for it was because you can vacuum and spot mop as needed and all the bits go into the pad. So then there’s no filter to clean!!!! You just through it away when it gets gross. It has replaced my broom for the in between cleans! It’s rechargeable too! I love when a product replaces multiple things! It actually was a winner. I’ve seriously got like 6 other people to buy them lol. I need commission 😂😂😂

I was given a Shark Vacmop, and I do love it, but sadly right now it is sitting on the sidelines, because the cost of buying replacements pads is just not in the budget right now!
@aimeesattictreasures6872 жыл бұрын
I actually bought one of these and returned it. I really wanted to like it but it just seemed to be a swiffer with a vacuum attached. I now have a bissell crosswave. It sweeps and mops at the same time. It is like a carpet cleaner but for hard floors..They are expensive but I bought a refurbished one. This is my 2nd one. The first had a cord and it was a pain to move outlets but I now have a rechargeable one. I admit there is some cleanup involved but it is so easy to use. I am tall and most mop handles are short. No more backaches. When I do sweep I use my dyson, I rarely get out the brrom

My parents are in their 80's and are still very much independent. My mom saw the O'Cedar mop advertised and wanted it, so I got them one. They love it. I also bought them a long handled dust pan which makes it easier. ** Yes, I do help them with deep cleaning but cannot be there for everyday tidying up.

Dawn. Loved the comments about the pillows. As a grandmother I just don’t sweat that anymore. I cherish the fun and memories they make building forts and pillow fighting and just being with us. I don’t Invest in expensive pillows. They are so replaceable but time and memories with my grandchildren are not. I do get it though. I just wash them and refluff until they need replacing again. Love your videos!! God bless.
