There is a third preserved member of the class, 46235 "City of Birmingham" which is trapped inside the Birmingham City Museum. It's high time it were liberated...

I know, for the next few years we will be sadly short of Stanier pacifics. 6235 in a museum, 6229 in casing, 6233 in a workshop and 6201 going of the Main line too. Still at least Leander still has a couple of years. It just suprises me that given so few gresley machnes survive, a huge proportion are out and about. But there are so many black fives and 8fs, three jubes, three duchesses, 2 scots, 2 princesses and a mogul, and yet only a few fivs, one 8f and Leander can run on the main line.

DolphinLegend 6444 oh you don’t know ?, the streamlined duchess of Hamilton was put inside the Nation Railway Museum, this is the other duchess of Hamilton that is not streamlined.

To put matters in to perspective.6229 Duchess Of Hamilton was re-streamlined and is now In York Railway Museum.She was Built as streamlined.6233 Duchess Of Sutherland was one of the 5 that were built unstreamlined and is now in her original as built condition apart form the double chimney.She had a single chimney when built.The other de-streamlined Princess Coronation Locomotive 46235 City Of Birmingham is incarcerated in a Museum In Birmingham.She was the first of the class to loose her streamlined casing.

No. 6229 really hope so. 6233 almost certainly. 6235, unlikly. As i heard it, there is almost nohing mechanical left that could possiblly work. And it is incarcerated in a museum.
