The Best of British Steam | 2022

With 2022 nearing its end, I bring you my best bits from the year, which has resulted in my longest yearly compilation to date, with over 50 minutes of nothing but pure British Steam!
This year has seen me venture to a lot of new places, with intention of either ticking off new locations, or seeing locomotives I've never captured before, or seen very little of. Highlights have included heading to the S&C for the first time, getting steam on the iconic Dawlish and Dover Sea Walls, and also seeing steam on rare ground in the Medway Valley. Other highlights have included capturing some of the Carnforth based pool of locomotives, the mainline return of 60007 (4498) Sir Nigel Gresley & 70000 Britannia, 34067 Tangmere coming down south for the first time since returning to overhaul, having two Scottish steam locomotives in the form of Caledonian Railway No. 828 and No. 419 visiting the Spa Valley Railway (which was also a new line for me this year), along with seeing other locomotives bow out of service, including 45699 Galatea, 60103 Flying Scotsman, 60163 Tornado and 30925 Cheltenham. With the London based touring company Steam Dreams also being obtained by LSG earlier this year, it has also seen a lot more variety of engines come down south, and with Saphos Trains who are also operated by LSG now using this to their advantage, there's promise of even more next year!
Alas 2022 hasn't been without its faults. Almost all of the trips I've had this year have had at least one thing go wrong, alongside us having one of the hottest summers to date, which saw steam totally barred from running anywhere for most of the summer season. But nonetheless, here is nearly an hour of my favourite bits from this year, featuring locomotives from a variety of companies, all running through different parts of the country.
It's safe to say this is one of my favourite compilations, with myself having got to grips with my 'new' camera that I obtained last year, and everything filmed in 4k 60fps at the best possible quality wherever able, I hope you enjoy this compilation. Massive thanks to everyone involved in all of my outings this year, and I look forward to what 2023 has in store!

In the first clip, how come the train was running on the right hand side of the rails? Or was the platform you were standing on a sort of siding from the main running line like Dawlish Warren?

That's Wandsworth Town. Both the lines there run in the same direction, with the lines towards london being to the far left out of shot.
